Who does our MARKETING, It sucks !!

Cardiff City games are never promoted or advistised anywhere !!

if i wasnt a die hard fan, would i have a clue we have a last 16 game against burnley tomorrow, would i hell !! i wouldnt even realise cardiff city exist in this city i really wouldnt.

i mean its been bad for as long as i can remember, but i see everything else coming along, stadium, training facilities etc but the marketing is shocking and league 2 standard.

we should be filling this ground week in week out and the only reason we get atendances now are word of mouth.

this city should have posters up, billboards around the city, newspaper articles. it should be everywhere.


my one suggestion is, we should have offers for school tickets every week like in the ninian. a random school every week gets 200 tickets in the family stand. this should then encourage them to come back next week to support us and throw away the man u, chelsea and man city tops they have on in there young confused childhood.

thats very true, but im not so confident that one role change on the board will spark much of a revolution, i think this is a real area we are not exploiting for income would you agree?

Personally, I believe we have not gone forward in the last 4 years regarding marketing and yes your prob right, there still wont be much improvement, due to no budget for it.

I remember when the buses used to have the next fixture on display as you got onto the bus ....
they were the days, football special from station to Ninian and back plus pick up the football echo to read on the bus home

On the flip side of that though you could point out that the club is currently having it's highest gates in living memory. Plus the gates have been climbing steadily season by season since 2000. You could also point to the fact that hardly a day goes by that the club isn't on the back page of the Echo or reported on both terestrial tv stations.

You point out that they should be giving tickets away for the family stand. I know that for the last few seasons at Ninian Park, the family stand sold out for almost every single game and was the fastest selling part of the ground for every game. I'd guess that it's the same now at the new stadium. Simply put you can't give away 200 tickets for a section of the ground that's always sold out. Maybe the club could have a "sit on someone's lap day" for that part of the gorund.

Has for the "league 2 standard" you say. Isn't it strange then that the club has over the last several seasons been contacted by an array of clubs asking for marketing tips from Cardiff City. These clubs can be found both in the Football League and Premier League. Outside of football I do also remember a request from Llanelli Scarlets if I'm not mistaken. All of those clubs would love to have Cardiff's "league 2 standard".

Just to make a point though regarding schools. The club's Football in the Community spend their entire lives in the schools in South Wales promoting, amongst other things, the Football Club. They regularly go to these schools armed with tickets etc.

The issue of kids with Man U tops is a national problem facing all football clubs. It's a sobbering thought that 6 out of 10 football fans are Man U fans. The other 4 out of 10 is split between ALL the other clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea etc and every FL club. That's a massive problam that all the football clubs have been trying to deal with over many years. It's a bit harsh then the lay the full responsibility of that on the Cardiff doorstep.

Why don't they do stadium tours ?
I would imagine that if they had tours for a fiver, the stadium would have a quite a few people coming down, especially as it's half term, all of them walking past the club shop, they would only have to employ one person.
Plus with the things that have already been mentioned.

the whole thing is poor.

also the reason we have bigger crowds has nothing to do with marketing, it is just the team ad club evolving. a new stadium always increase attendance, as does a successful side. the marketing has done nothing

During half term perhaps tours for a 5er for adults and with that he/she can bring 2 kids along for free, the club is backwards however

Two of these, one by the Ninian Gates and the other facing the shops, would be a start.
Also need more advertisement around the City and local radio/papers.
