Malaysians not going for promotion this season QUOTE

Thu Oct 20, 2011 4:05 am

It looks like the Malaysians are not going for promotion this season. Not that they don't want it.

One important thing that needs to be mentioned is that the Malaysian dude stated "We must build blocks and make progress.
“This team needs to be together for a whole season before we see things really happening. We need an element of luck along the way."

To me this means we are buidling for next season. He is testing to see if Malky is worth risking millions on and that if we are lucky and get near the top two he will roll the dice in the January transfer window. If not we will hope fo rthe playoffs and build in the summer.

He isn't saying he is going for promotion seriously and financially this season. It looks like a season of consolidation. It is a brand new team after all.

I am frustrated but if what I read into his comments is true than I will be happy. However, a big name signing just to keep me happy would be nice.

I think we will attract big players on loan if they feel the need to go on loan. For their egos a club like ours would be fine because we have a big(ish) stadium, top fans and look like we are on the up. Also, they will see that Rambo and Bellamy came here on loan so if it is good enough for them then it will be good enough for the likes of UNited and Arsenal reserves or players coming back from long-term layoffs.

What I don't get is that Malky isn't panicking so why are we. If we had won against Boro we would be right up there contesting for automatic promotion. It is f*cking frustrating though.

Also, maybe they will be looking to get a more controlling share in the club before they commit big bucks. I'm not stupid though and I will believe it when I see it. I guess we will have to wait and see. Things aren't all that bad though. I am much happier now then under Jones/Ridsdale when if looked like we would fold every other week.

£20 odd million still has to be paid to Langston and I for 1 would rather that get sorted and spend another season here in the Championship while Malky slowly but surely puts a fairly decent and non loanee squad togethor , building for the future of the Club :ayatollah: :D :ayatollah:

surely though , if we spent just around 2 mil or brought in 2 or 3 loans then the chance of promotion and a premiership windfall would wipe out that 20mil debt straight away.. the club know best but i feel that another season in championship that debt stays there ...

Yeah that makes sense and a good post tbh . We need to sort out that Langston debt once and for all (it like a Ball and Chain around our Club) then the Club can really go forward. I'm sure we could bring in a couple of loan players to help out up front though and help us push for the Playoff's

If you're a proper fan, you'll buy a season ticket anyway, whatever the case.manchester clubs are only a few hours up the road if you feel need for glory

We're 3 points off the play offs after being ravaged by injuries and some dodgy refereeing decisions.

The team have not been together that long and there is a hunger and passion in both players and manager.

I wouldn't throw the towel in just yet.

I am happy with the situation because sometimes, like in football, you have to go back to go forward. I see progress and solid foundations being laid, if we finish mid table this season it will not be a disaster but I would expect a push for the play offs again next season

I been saying it for yonks, VT and TG are putting foundations in place. First and foremost we have to be a financially stable club. We may get a bit lucky and reap the rewards early i.e this season (if we are in the mix they will back Malky in January, I have been saying this for yonks too), however I think it is far more likely this is a year of transition for CCFC and a push for promotion will come in earnest next season or the season after depending on our financial position. A settlement of the Langstone issue will see our club smack bang on the right road. I think this is the next issue which will be dealt with in a calm methodical way. Have no fear we are heading in the right direction, all that's needed is a bit of patience. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Didn't we try that last season? Paid big money and failed to get the prize. Once bitten......?? We need 2 or 3 in to bolster the squad, the rest i'm not overly bothered about at present, sorting the debt had to be the main aim.

Sensible posts by Martyn1963, Boxerbob, JohnnyRhythm, Ihatealiens and PtB, all in the same thread. I think things are looking up. I'm happy that we've dismantled the prima ballerina core from last season, that let's face it, very few of us could associate with and have brought in some players that feel the need to earn their luxurious lifestyle. That's a great start.

The players applaud during warm ups, after the game and the manager taps every player on the back and shakes their hands, thanking them for their effort before turning to the fans and making positive, appreciative gestures, including fist-pumps if we win. Think back about 5 months and compare.

This is a results business and every fan wants their team to win every time they attend a game. Well I do and I get frustrated when things go the way they did in the last few minutes on Tuesday night but at least there is a local club to have pride in and support and I'd rather watch Cardiff for real in the Dandelion and Burdoch league than support a team from 200 miles away that I have no association with from my armchair rest that competes for a stack of top trophies season in, season out.

Now given the distance, it can be taken as read that the Malaysians are in this for themselves primarily and probably secondary and tertiary too but the fact remains because of them I still have a club and upper mid-table in the championship is nothing to cry about when you consider the alternatives. Another alternative would be to continue throwing silly money at the pipe dream, with no guarantees and what happens if we finally reach the dollarship, we get fans demanding we throw even more money at it in an attempt to stay there.

Even the mega-money income provided by the premiership didn't save Leeds or Portsmouth from attaining sky high debt and even clubs with chairmen who truly love their clubs and it could be argued were doing it for the club not themselves like Majeski at Reading and Gibson at Middlesbrough couldn't maintain their premiership status.

If you try to tread water in football you'll get eaten by the sharks.
I believe the current board are sleepwalking towards relegation.

And dropping like a stone.

Didnt realise those rose tinted specs were that good they could see 500 miles away and tell that we are playing brilliantly, we got the most dangerous, creative, best crossing midfielders in this division and everythings just A.O.K.

Must get myself a pair.....

three points off 5th. We have lost less games than Ipswich and Palace, and lost the
same amount as Derby in 3rd. We've beaten BOTH of the teams in automatic promotion
places.

You carry on saying we're shite. I wont. Crack on. By the way, three weeks from now i'll
be about 3,600 miles away... Bit more ammo for you.

I was considering going back on the dole and getting me old flat back, that way, if me
payments fall on a home game, i'll get to watch them all.

But i sold out. Sorry City. I'm a plastic

im more frustrated than angry, its just that we are 2 or 3 players away from a very good side,so close yet seems so far at times.
the horrendous officiating and injury woes weve suffered will hopefully level out over the course of the season
