" OPINIONS PLEASE "

Wed Oct 19, 2011 5:04 pm

A question just put on my facebook wall from Chris Gingell, he asked me to put it on here. Interesting question in my opinion.

Will we appeal to premiership players or any other tops players if we are in the bottom half of the league in January?

Annis, Is there any need to ask, I would say we are getting less attractive day by day.

That isnt in any way a dig at the boys.

We attracted players like Conway, Miller (who could have gone to Rangers), Taylor etc after we lost Chopra, Bothroyd, Bellamy, Burke and it looked like the club was only going one way.

I think if we're in the lower half of the division by Janauary we've got a lot bigger things to be worried about than whether we're appealing to premiership players.
Be assured that Malky is thinking about 3 points from Barnsley and building team confidence. He might like to have more players but he's not going to dwell on it.
Ultimately even if you have less resources than another team...Leicester?......it doesn't mean you can't achieve the same or more with the right teamwork.

It depends on how well the person in charge of negotiations can sell the club to potential players

Sentiment has nothing to do with it - money talks. If we pay enough, then they will come. Whether we can get them to perform is another matter.

Players don't have morals, they will go anywhere.
Leicester last jan were struggling and got excellent loans.

Disagree the type of player we need to attract is one who may be surplus to requirements or out of favour at a Premier League Club who has a point to prove and would like to help take another club up there and then go on to play with that club in the Premier. I dont think we need any mercenaries yet again at our club who are only here for the money. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

We will appeal to most players as long as the wages are correct. A few years ago players would rather play at the top level-nowadays the mercenaries will go to who will pay them the most.

Players are selfish we know that but there are some who want to play as much as pull the big pay cheque so as far as loans go I think we could still attract players.

But we also need to go looking for permanent signings and I think that would be more difficult if we are bottom half of the league.

Depends how many points off the play-offs we are really. I think we will
stay in touch. One thing I am fairly confident of is that we wont
go on a losing run. We just need to get a winning one together. Right
now, i just dont see that happening. Mad really, Rudy starts to look a
decent player up there and gets a bad injury. The only combination he
hasnt really given a good run out so far is Miller and Mason. You and
me both think that one could work dont we?? We shall soon see i think.
I'll be amazed if he starts with Earnie and Miller

I think we still could, if Malky is involved with negotiations he could inspire anyone to join the club, theres always a team who do mediocre in the first half of the season then press forward at the end, we could defo be that team this season, remember we are still a new team,it took dave jones 3years to get "his team! patience is the key, thatsalways been the problem with us fans

In Malky I Trust, the guy is seriously going to be a legend

Re: " OPINIONS PLEASE "

Why the negative vibes...

With three minutes to go last night we were 1 point off the automatic spot...

I'm frustrated by the fact that we're nearly there. With the addition of a decent striker (I repeat my normal stance Earnie is shite) and a winger I think we'd really challenge in this division. We've drawn with Leicester, beaten Southampton, beaten West Ham, drawn away at Blackpool, Burnley and Portsmouth, only lost to Hull because we ran out of players.... these are no bad results...

Why wouldn't a player want to come to a club with a new stadium, 20k plus every week, fantastic away support, great training facilities, young modern thinking manager....

Didn't Leicester get the best loans when struggling?

I remember when we were signing players in the summer, some on here talked about the 'Malky Factor' which, I must admit, I thought was bizarre and ridiculous. He's not really got that much kudos among players who've never played under him but probably has for players that have. But if this M Factor really does exist, we should have no trouble attracting the best loans possible.

I was just wondering though, whenabouts last season he signed Cleverly. I know that player is unavailable for loan, but if he signed him in January or part of the way through the season, maybe there is some truth in the 'M-Factor' theories. If he did indeed have the kudos to be able to sign a player of that calibre when Watford were a mid-table side last season, perhaps that magic can rub off on us as well

In a word no, has we can't attract players now it seems . Also why do we want Premiership players ???.
I thought that was all a huge cock up by Jones and Co. Premiership players on massive wages or ex Prem players still on massive wages , just using our Club to get back into favour and costing our Club a fortune while they were at it

Depends if we use the loan maket intelligently or not. Stoke went up and they probably had as many loan players as we had last season

But this board more than most were quite clear in their views that the Loans policy didn't work, where Loan players didn't care for our Club and pushed the Wage structure of the Club and yet, we now want to bring Loan Players from the Premiership now and do just the same as last year ?. Also if it's true about 6 players already turning us down when it comes to loans, it's not looking good at the mo is it. Mind you we need to bring in a striker as soon as possible

Funny you bring up Stoke the points we got in the season we played them in the Playoff's would have got us auto most seasons :(. Its seems we're never meant to be inthe Prem and at least we get double the games inthe Championship lol

Far more likely that Malky will be raiding his old stamping ground at Watford for a few players come January ;) :ayatollah:

I don't think anyone on here has been against the loan system, per se, just that the amount of loan players we had last season didn't help us but, in fact, it hindered us. Most people would be in favour of 3 or 4 intelligently sourced loan players to bolster our squad for the rest of the season

At Watford he went for the likes of young Cleverly and Lansbury :ayatollah:

Only if we pay extortionate wages and meet the parent clubs demands, that stands for whether we are top or bottom. It'll mean going way beyond our means AGAIN.

My opinion is no loan signings, but a couple of young cheap permanent signings.
Might be wrong but that's my opinion.
