MONDAY OCTOBER 17th 2011 UPDATE

Mon Oct 17, 2011 6:48 pm

On Saturday there was a raffle with many prizes that took place at the Ninian Park Pub to raise funds for Mikey Dye's Memorial Fund, the raffle raised £460.

Also John Bassett, owner of the Pub, also put 50% of the pubs profits before 3pm on Saturday and after the VAT was taken off and stock costs taken out, I am glad to say that John has kindly donated £524.36.

Giving us a total of £984.36 raised on Saturday, which added to the overall fund brings us to a total of £16,500 approx. This figure does include donation offers that have yet to be received but we will be speaking to those who have made their kind offers of donations this week before a cheque is raised next Tuesday for Mikey's family.

The Ninian Park Pub are lining the ceiling in the lounge area with old City programmes and have asked if anyone wishes to donate any old programmes they will use them to cover the ceiling giving the pub a more football feel to it.

Gethin Jenkins leaves his post of chief executive this Saturday after the Barnsley game and from conversations today I understand that Gethin had his contract renewed in May of this year and as of the 22nd he will be placed on gardening leave for the remainder of his contract.

As of lunchtime today we have sold 319 tickets for tomorrows game against Peterborough excluding comps.

With regards to Leeds Utd on the 30th of this month I have had many people pull out of the trip due to the very high and unfair ticketing prices by Leeds Utd, I am waiting for a date for the next travel group meeting but I will be putting forward the objections set out by many of you at the crazy prices coupled with the early kick-off times, I will report back as and when the date is announced for the travel group.

Burnley home in the 4th round of the cup, the club anticipate a crowd of approx 10,000, this includes the expected couple of thousand walk up crowd, the club believe the ticketing pricing is correct with the £10 adult and £1 child prices but are a little disappointed with the ticket sales thus far, c'mon City fans let's show the club that we are fully behind the team and back them by turning up for this game.

The club could have used a marketing strategy by promising everyone who bought a ticket for Burnley is guaranteed a ticket for the next round if we are again at home but they have chosen not too, let's get behind them and get a bigger crowd in for Burnley and who knows we could be on our way to Wembley way again.

Darren Purse and Plymouth are hoping to tie up a deal a the next day or two for Pursey to sign for Argyle, I am told that Darren Purse is keen to go to Home Park and Ridsdale is working to get the deal done asap.

For those who missed TG's interview with Rob Phillips today, the main points are that the club through 1MCC and FELDA a initiative has been set up where the hope is that tens of thousand of youngsters will benefit from the grass roots academy set up and it will raise the profile of Cardiff City in Malaysia.

Also TG spoke about the new chief executive will likely be promoted from within.

Regards the January transfer window TG also said that Malky will have full support in January.

Cheers Carl.

It's a bit worrying that it seems to be quiet on the loan front.

Thanks Carl :ayatollah: Still a little mysterious why Gethin Jenkins is not carrying on. But good luck to him for the future. He came in at a very difficult time, and steadied the ship. Remember that fuss about Motherwell not having been paid for Quinny :? and the transfer embargo. Really was not that long ago. :ayatollah:

I agree with you about supporting the team for the Carling Cup match next week as in the entire history of this competition we have only reached beyond round 4 on one occasion. With Burnley at home we surely have a real chance of reaching the Quarter Final stage and with the price structure I hope we get a crowd above 15K.

I'm old enough to remember the last time we got past round 4 it was the 1965/66 season when we reached the semi final before going out 10-3 on aggregate to West Ham Utd. However that West Ham Utd team included Geoff Hurst, Martin Peters and the absolutely fantastic Bobby Moore who just 4 months later were World Cup winners with England.

Next Tuesday is a big night for the club and the fans so come on everyone get your tickets booked, it's halfterm week so no school the following day and kids are £1 per ticket in the Family Stand.

The club cannot do anymore it's time for the fans to step up to the plate. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
