Jimbo27 wrote:This Saturday is your chance to pay tribute to a true legend of Cardiff City Football Club! From 12pm at the club shop Cardiff City's record appearance holder, Phil Dwyer will be signing copies of his autobiography! The word legend is over used these days but in the case of Phil Dwyer it is appropriate! Anyone who ever saw him put his body on the line countless times in service for club and country will not disagree that he is what all players at the club should strive to be. Phil is one of the clubs most loved players, not only for his commitment and playing ability but also for his unique relationship with the fans. Phil was a grangetown boy, he grew up on the terraces of the grange end and every time he pulled on a blue shirt he never forgot that he was living out his dream, as well as that of every city fan.
Phil doesnt just talk about his memories on the pitch, playing in europe as well as participating in promotion and relegation campaigns but he also blows the lid off his time in the dressing room as he talks about the fights, drinking sessions and banter. From fist fights in the sloper road car park after games to Robin Friday being dropped off by the team bus In the middle of nowhere so he could get high, Phil tells it as it really was!
I hope everyone can get behind Phil and show him how much he means to the City supporters!

Remember Joe taking out Alfie Conn early in the famous FA Cup tie against Tottenham in 1977. Peter Sayer got the headlines, but without players like Phil Dwyer, we would not have won that game, and many others. Joe used to get complimentaries for my mate Terry Taylor, who I worked with in Sharpe & Fisher in the docks. Happy days

Joey, stop the rain
Joey, Joey stop the rain
Had many a good chat with Phil years later when he was manager of Bridgend Town, I will certainly be there on Saturday.
