" SMALL UPDATE Thursday 13/10/11 "

Thu Oct 13, 2011 8:07 pm

Malky has been working hard to bring a new players using the loan system but for numerous reasons has been unsuccessful. Malky was offered players this week to take on loan but the deal was not right for City, Malky wants to bring players in on 3 month loan deals at this time and not on 1 month deals as he does not want to upset the core of the team by bringing a player or 2 in for 4 weeks, playing them and at the same time risking upsetting his squad.

One particular player that was offered to us was the right player but the loaning club only would let him out for a month.

Malky is looking at strikers and wingers.

Another issue we have is the amount of wages the parent clubs want us to pay for a loan player, there is a budget available to Malky, it is not millions but he is confident that if he sees the right player then he will be backed to bring him in.

Another area where Malky is applying pressure is the academy, he feels there should be more coming through the academy and pushing for the first team than we currently have, there is an excellent batch of players coming through behind at the younger age groups but not so much at youth team level.

Craig Bellamy is still in contact with our Malaysian owners and he has agreed to go to Malaysia at the end of this season and spend part of the summer promoting Cardiff City.

Dave, I know for a fact there is money, not millions but enough to bring players in, if they are right for the squad.

Malky is targeting strikers and wingers.

pretty much sounds about right.

why would we only want a player for 1 month, it would upset the current squad, teams that are only willing to loan players for 1 month obviously they just want them to have a bit of competitive game time... i.e. coming back from an injury or off form etc...
if dj was in charge i could imagine we would have had 2 or 3 players like that...

clearly mm is thinking that if the player isnt going to benefit the current squad over a min of 3 months then whats the point in wasting unnecessary money..

just wish people would understand this sometimes.....

Quite right, Blackwood.

Last season how many of our fringe players must have waited for their chance only for yet another loan player to come in instead and take his place. Not really a surprise we seemed to lack any kind of team spirit which cost us in the end.

Better to wait for the right loan and not waste money on one month loans just to please some fans.

Good to see MM looking long term and trying to build from within, instead of trying the short term way of getting loan upon loan in the hope that we can try and buy our way up. Didn't last season teach us that??

It seems less and less likely that any players will come in on loan now before the January transfer window opens.

But Malky knows what he's doing :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

In view of your comments about how much Malky Mackay has to spend on new players, do you still believe that the club's footballing budget for this season is £20 million? I happen to think that we've spent a bigger portion of our budget than many believe we have because all of those "free transfers" we signed were anything but that. However, if our budget was £20 million, I'd expect us to still have the few million left that you say we haven't.

good morning paul

there has been a little confusion over this 20 million.
they will have put that amount of money in by the end of the season and that will be used for all aspects of running the club including paying off some of the historical debts from the stadium etc

Agreed lets be fair if we was going to push for promotion like MM and gethin jenkins said WHEN MM SIGNED then there would have been the squad numbers needed there at the club before the seasons started :ayatollah: or maybe we need another 2-4 injurys and play center backs up front for 6 games and 6 defeats before we maybe or could sign a few, just dont make sence :ayatollah:

Thanks for that Steve. So, assuming you are correct, how does this season's wage budget compare to last year's? According to the latest accounts filed at Companies House, wages amounted to £16,750,000 in 09/10 and Dave Jones said that season 10/11's wage costs were the same as the previous year - the accounts also talk about wage costs being the same (except for the Bellamy loan which, it is said, would pay for itself through shirt sales, marketing etc.). So, do you think Malky Mackay has been given a similar wage bill to work with to the ones Dave Jones appears to have got in his last two seasons at City?

Why is Craig going to Malaysia promoting Cardiff City when he is nothing to do with the club, id respect Bellamy more if he was honest and said he was promoting himself & his academy and stop using us for his own means. I wonder who pays for his trip...?

I disagree. I cant see him getting much mileage promoting his Sierra-Leone academy
in Malaysia. It will mean f**k all to them, they wont care. I genuinely think Bellamy
has a vested interest in Cardiff City. He has perhaps two seasons left as a player and
is going to be back in Cardiff for the rest of his days. He wants to stay in Football
and wants to be involved with this Club. If the Malaysians see him as a high-profile
footballer then who better to help market Cardiff City over there. Of course they
will be paying, it will be Club business

I think its bang out of order mate when we are struggling to bring in players and yet pay for a Liverpool player/fan to promote us, how. How can a Liverpool player promote Cardiff City. I understand his vested interest in us as we are giving his boys from his academy a chance. I understand his welfare is for his academy and rightly so but I do honestly believe he is using us for his own means, again.

I know what you mean, but I also doubt that TG would let him go over there on a self-serving
mission anyway. There will be an itinerary, meetings, media conferences... I just cant see them
letting Bellamy move away from the script.

I suppose they know what they are doing, in fairness its their money anyway. Dont get me wrong I have alot of admiration for Craig as a footballer, probably one of the best Cardiff/Wales has produced. But I as many dont go along with this connection he has with CCFC, he is coming to the end of his career and looking out for himself. I just wish he was upfront about it, the only connection he has with the City is that he was born n bred in Cardiff. Anyway like you say Im sure TG has his reasons.
