IN SCHOOL... FFS (PLS READ)

Wed Oct 12, 2011 7:59 pm

As we are in the semis of the egg world cup, the teachers have all said to wear red in support of our rugby team. I think its bollocks, final fair enough but for a semi I think it's stupid. The majority of the staff arse lick the egg-chasers but there are a few football fans, it's basically a rugby school. If Wales got to the world cup in Rio 2014, the staff would never allow us to wear red. In fact, the wouldn't bat an eye-lid if we reached Rio. Therefore myself and a couple of mates are wearing a Welsh FOOTBALL shirt to show the staff what a real sport is!!!!

So...the teachers want you to wear red in support of welsh rugby and Wales achievement in general?

So to rebel against this you go and wear a RED Wales jersey regardless of wether it's football or not your complying by what they say.

Stickin' it to da man!!

I am happy for my country for God sake, there must be something wrong with me if I want my own country to lose. Rugby is a useless sport but doesn't mean I want them to lose, loads on this forum would agree. Football is the proper sport + you don't know what my school are like, rugby arse lickers mun

well most schools are similar when i went to school it was rugby rugby rugby
actually come to think of our football training consisted of
'This is a football as you can see its a funny shape'
'Football is an easy sport to play but remember your not allowed to pick the ball up and run with it'
You cant really blame the schools though the WRU spend millions on youth development organising competitive school leagues this money comes from the government
The FAW on the other hand has no interest in developing youth just relying on professional clubs academies
As schools get recognition for sporting achievements (with school improvements) so is there any wonder why rugby is pushed so hard when most schools can only play rugby competitively

Your definately right there, the FAW do f**k all for our schools, but theres always Cardiff City coaches coming to teach the younger ones of the school. We never usually get any rugby coaches coming in anymore, used to in primary school but I just think the schools should encourage football more. If it wasn't for football, there would be no rugby. Someone just painted the lines wrong on the field then someone fancyed picking up the ball for a laugh and running with it. But yeah absolutely right, it's all rugby with these schools

Yeah city coaches will turn up looking for talent they may have missed
For rugby your PE teacher in primary school would have picked the best players and sent them off to district trials to see if you have the talent to play, then if you do well at district level you will get picked by one of the regions.
This kind of set up doesnt exist for football.

but whos fault is it ask yourself that question
is it the government
NO the government is obligated to provide money for a sport if its asked for
is it the schools
NO as it stands there is no financial gain to be had from having a school football team
is it the WRU
NO quite rightly they are only concerned with rugby
The one organisation you can blame is the FAW
they have no interest in school level football

Re: IN SCHOOL... FFS (PLS READ)

Exactly the FAW don't put hardly any money into schools!! That's why there is more focus on rugby because the WRU pump the money in!! When I started comp back in the day rugby & football was on a par but when I was just about to leave I could clearly see back then that the balance had shifted clearly in rugby's favour!!

And now the bad press football had with violence and so called hooligans it will get worse until the FAW do something drastic!!

I went to Rumney High School from 1976-1981.We had 3 games teachers who were rugby orientated  but we did have a football team which was run by mr harrison the metal work teacher.thankfully he also ran an in school 5aside league in the old barn on a friday night.this was my highlight of the week.
The one thing that used to do my head in though was for some reason once a year in december our games lesson used to alweys feckin clash with the varsity rugby match oxford v cambridge. we had to go into the youth club and watch the feckin thing on tv   well i used to watch the first 5mins and then sneak out home for an earl dinner

growing up as a kid in the 70s i will always remember sports night on a weds night, grandstand and the teleprinter on a sat :old: Brian Moore and the Big Match on a sunday, and of course Match Of The Day.

football is the number one sport for me but i will be in canton early for brekkie on sat watching wales win on tv,then a short walk down to our stadium to watch the city beat ipswich.bluuuuuuuuuuuebirds. :ayatollah: :D

It's stupid really, the Welsh talent has to come from Wales somewhere, obviously, the sooner they find it, the better I say. Then they can improve that player from a young age. Someone who I bother with plays for Cardiff City u16's, he got scouted from quite young playing football for his local side. There are a few others who I bother with who have a good footballing talent who i'd like to see get scouted. If the FAW done the same as rugby and give kids trials from different schools etc, there would be much more talent coming through the ranks. :old:

Its Red so wear it with pride. Wear it in support of a fantastic achievement of reaching the Semi Final, but also the recent exploits of our National football Team. Between the Football and Rugby, sporting times at the moment is great :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
