Heres a football question for you

Sat Oct 08, 2011 6:26 pm

I have had it answered tonight by the FA but it was an interesting one thats for sure.

Today went to Cowbridge Town V Wenvoe top of the table clash.

Wenvoe started with 10 men for 15 minutes until their " star " striker turned up ! then they switched to 11 men although they had 3 subs on the bench.

Do you think this is allowed in this strange situation ?

I would have thought if he was registered and in the starting 11 and turned up late he would still be allowed to play as soon as he arrived. As the team would be under strength at kick off that is their call.If they were to use a sub then he couldn't go on the bench.

Thats not actually sporting. Sporting would be to start with 11 men as 11 players were available to start the game!

Thats a good one for You are the Ref every sunday in the Observer sport supplement.

Daya as an aside - any thoughts that if we had got promoted Tony Fernandes would have lumped in with us?

Re: Heres a football question for you

I thought that if he was named in the starting 11 then it doesnt matter wether he was there or not,it is up to the manager if he wants to take the risk and start with 10.As long as he was named in the starting 11 and they start with 10 then he can join the game when he turns up

That my friend is correct. Same principle when a player goes to the toilet and misses k.o. he can join the game when he is ready as long as he is on teamsheet

Well I havent checked with FA or anything but I can remember on one or two occasions watching footy on TV and players having to ask to enter field of play after game has kicked off because they have been to toilet or changing parts of kit or just generally late coming out of changing room. The ref will start game as long as there is minimum 7 a side. Just my humble opinion but I know its right

Those players you refer to are present and dressed, ref is aware they are present.

Daya's example, the person hadn't even arrived at the point the game kicked off.

Massive difference between the two.

Here's another question.

Is there any chance of the Icelandic feller going back to West Ham as
the Porn Barons are corrupt and give football a bad name

The player has to be named on the team sheet in the starting 11 prior to kick off, he would then be allowed to enter the field of play with the referees permission. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

ha i played for wenvoe for years up until last year, its run so bad and they always do things like this. id be surprised if the players were even registered.

but yes the answer is aslong as his name is on the team sheet he can play
