Papers quiet on memorial match

Wed Oct 05, 2011 7:07 pm

I haven't read anything about this match in any of the news sites. They were quick enough to blame the Jacks when there was trouble, I suppose Swansea and Cardiff fans putting their difference aside for a worthwile cause isn't newsworthy...

If there's is even a sending off in the match, I can imagine the headlines... "Carnage between rival gangs"

Good luck to everyone, I hope it goes as well as it's been organised.

I remember a few guys commenting on how their English friends didn't realise that what happened to Mike was the result of an Englishman's actions, instead were mislead into believing it was a Welsh rivalry thing, and STILL do.
Well I was at an engagement party on Saturday and when I tried correcting a few guys that it wasnt Welsh rivalry and that it was infact an English fella, they told me I was full of shit! I was fuuuuming! They thought I was just being a biase, shit stirring wanker. I took it so personal, even surprised myself....Its made the huge sense of media injustice hit home.

I agree. Its not about letting everyone know 'it was an Englishman!'. A man is a man, regardless of nationality. I believe its the media's duty to publish THE TRUTH about such sensitive matters which can be sooo damaging beyond imagination. They carelessly thought that it would be an ideal story for the next days press if they quickly drew up a probable story without ONE SINGLE TRUE FACT! The memorial match is to remember Mikey, but it is also the only real opportunity that we have to put it right! We can unite and TELL the media that is was cheap, inconsiderate, dangerous and WRONG. They need to print the truth. Look at what The Sun did with Hillsborough and Liverpool, this is small time in comparison for The Sun, sad fact is they probably sold extra papers with their article & headline(s), that's how they operate....£££'s at ALL cost.

I know deep down we wont hear a peep about it, it will be headlines and quotes like 'a memorial match was held in memory of Mikey Dye, a Cardiff fan who passed whilst watching Wales v England at Wembley'.

It will be very interesting to see what they do with the interviews they get on camera etc... Make sure you all say what you feel...for Mikey.

Calming down now. 8-)

english media hushing it up............its gone very quiet and that makes my blood boil! Why are there no updates on sky news etc, I truly believe that if an english fan had been killed by a Welsh fan then the media would've been all over it and the media would've portrayed the Welsh at an even lower level than they do already.

it just shows the total disrespect and contempt the english media have towards the Welsh. Most english are still not aware that an english fan caused the death of a Welsh fan.

Respect ......... lets kick racism out of football?

Just this morning received confirmation that HTV Wales will be there with reporters and cameras on Sunday. Seems like the match is becoming big news.
They will be looking to take some footage of the fans and the game and to talk to some people who knew Mikey Dye. This is a great opportunity to show how everybody has moved on and also to put the record straight on a few things.
I am still also looking for a Welsh speaker who can give an interview to Catrin Sion to go out on Radio Cymru at 1pm on Sunday. Anybody able to speak to this lady then please pm or e-mail me and i will either give you her contact details or you can give me your contact details and i will forward them on to her.

what it is, after the recent riots, if it got out that someone was also murdered at wembley, it would scupper this countries chances of staging the olympics, thats why the main media want to shut it up i reckon

Similar happened to me in work with a Crystal Palace fan, I came so close to sparking him but realised that was what we were trying to rise above. Glad I didn't but have not been able to show him anything but contempt ever since, the despicable c**t.

Not just the Welsh mate, you always hear "Britains Andy Murray is through to the second round of Wimbledon" two days later..... "Scotland's No1 crashed out on Centre Court...again"
Not long ago it was "Ex Everton Striker Wayne Rooney banned for swearing into camera" WTF He's been at ManU for about 5 years now! I find it quite funny now..
