I have just started working as self employed. I have been using a car from my old employer but that car has to go back soon.
The problem is I have a poor credit rating. I had been accepted for credit a couple of months ago whilst I was in employment but obviously the same firm who accepted me for finance turned me down as I am self employed.
I need a vehicle for work and I have decided to get a van as it works out cheaper. I was looking into leasing a van but there are so many options out there like finance leasing and contract leasing. To be honest I ain't got a clue which is the best option.
I do travel quite a lot approx 25000 a year and a lot of deals only offer 10000 mpa.
I was wondering if any of you have any experience in this and if you may be able to offer some advice.
Thanks in advance
Steve

They offer a price for 10,000 miles but you can pay extra for each mile you go over e.g. 15pence / mile or you can negotiate a aprice for the mileage that you want which would probably be more favourable as long as you are sure you will do the miles.

I've got a fleet of vans and I can tell you contract leasing is a minefield and should be used with caution.I think a van is a good idea,as you can always pick up additional work, plus the smaller vans Iike the traffic and vito are like driving cars.If your really confident of your new venture you really should break your balls to buy your van as they will come with 100000 miles warranty and depreciation would mean it pays for itself . However,it is incredibly tough to get the deposit together and the finance offer but not impossible and well worth the effort.
