" Has TG changed ? "

Tue Oct 04, 2011 7:19 am

I remember his 1st walkabout under the stands season before last and he was happy talking to everyone and shaking hands etc .... compare that to when I saw him walking around last season with GJ before a game , he looked like " just another smug CCFC " employee rather than TG the fans fav and all round good guy !!

Martyn,
Just my opinion, TG still loves Cardiff City, would love to get more involved, but and I mean but, Vincent Tan totally controls everything and TG has to abide by what Tan wants to do and says. Tan has no love or feelings for Cardiff City, TG talked him in to getting involved in City, Tan thought it was fast money and success was virtually on a plate. Its been a rude awakening for both.
TG still wants Tan to back us :ayatollah:

The fact that their countryman has invested heavily in a team that lost 6-0 to Fulham at the weekend may also cause them to reflect on the enormity of the task facing them.

I think TG just feels let down by Dave Jones as lets face it they gave him everything he asked for, sadly TG believed his bullshit about getting us promoted.

I think if TG could turn the clock back he would have shot DJ after the playoff final defeat and not supported him with a truely massive playing budget only to see it was spent on players who would prefer a night on the lash than winning promotion.

I also think he probably feels he should have paid off Gethin Jenkins after the nonsense surrounding the Craig Bellamy transfer press conference. What should have been a great moment for the club was highjacked by Motherwell Chairman John Boyle telling the whole world we still owed his club £150k, Gethin Jenkins should have dealt with that as it was a huge PR nightmare on his watch. When people ask what GJ did wrong just remember that.

I think TG has changed but the change will be for the better, people say a week is a longtime in football well a year is a lifetime at Cardiff City. I think from here on in anyone who doesn't cut it will leave and that will be very positive going forward, and TG / VT will be here to oversee our future.

Interesting, But I think you will find that since VT backed Dave Jones with millions, I think VT is still in shock by the failure of last season and is now very wary.

Well sadly until and unless he does back us City will remain in this division at best.

That's not necessarily a bad thing after the decades of low level football we endured.

Saying that I wouldn't want to see City get thumped 6-0 at a mid PL team like Fulham but I'd like to see City have the chance to see what they could do at the next level before I meet my reaper

If Norwich can do it on a shoestring and swansea with not that much more cash spent, then no reason why Malky canot get us up but he cannot perform miracles if he has so many injuries, and cannot bring in new players. Why do City year in year out get so many injuries?

Dont think you could describe TG as smug. He is a lovely feller and has genuinely fallen in love with our club.

Tg made a mistake in letting dave jones have control over the transfer budget last season.
he was advised against it and still allowed it to happen which is why we ended up with a load of expensive loan failures.
I would have expected part of gethins remit was to make sure that the money was spent wisely and so on that basis he has to share the failure with Jones for last season although as i stated earlier Tg is also cu;pable by his action.
With gethins departure it would seem that he is paying for the failure last season along with jones.

Would you agree Annis that if VT had a opportunity to recoup and pull out, he would.

Richard
If they had wanted to pull out they could have done at the end of the season but they have committed millions to the club again this season so the anwser has to be no

Thank you Steve, I simply dont understand what VT is going to get out of this. He has no affiliation or affection towards the City, he has as you stated already committed millions into the club. As we all know 90% of football clubs run at a loss, VT is a shrewd businessman and is in it for the money alone. Im bemused to where he sees he is going to make back the invested millions and make more and once he has achieved that where does that leave CCFC.

Dont get me wrong, god bless TG & VT as Im like most other fans are eternally grateful to him as I believe without him we would not have a club as we know it today. So, therefore Im not anti-Malaysian. Im more-so interested in their involvement and the protected future of our club.

Ascot Sports is the answer to your question I think Richard as VT has been promised an extension to his gaming business to include a web based operation. People in Asia a football and betting mad and I think he is sat on a business potentially worth billions when it goes web based. Tie that up with a football club say Cardiff City playing with Ascot Sports on their shirts and at the Ascot Sports Cardiff City Stadium and the club will benefit as well.

I believe the internet gaming licence comes in 2013 the same year he is planning to pay off the outstanding debt to PMG and in my opinion all of this indicates both TG & VT see a longterm involvement with the club.

Thank you for your input, Im not sure how to react to Cardiff City FC being involved in the Asian betting market. I can see the logic in long term involvement of VT and how he will benefit financially. Great that the City will be a high profile club in Asia and will benefit with its sponsorship but am I the only one sceptical of our involvement within the Asian betting field. But there again what options do we have when it secures our future, I suppose its being a City fan that we'll always find fault and distrust.

Personally I think VT has learnt from last season and wants Malky to show him what he can do first before backing him with millions. I am still hopeful that if Malky gets us into a good position by January and impresses VT enough, then VT will feel Malky is the right man for the job and will give him a few million to strengthen the squad further.

So you don't think we've spent millions already during the summer? We've spent the money we got for Chopra on Miller and Turner (that's assuming it didn't go straight to Sunderland) and bought Joe Mason as well as paying signing on and agents fees for these players and our "free transfer" signings.

Also, in answer to the original question, didn't TG take a supporter on a tour of the ground after they complained at the July EGM of not having been on one yet?

investing in Cardiff for VT is pennies to his mountain of money empire - I seriously dont think he'll be that upset about spending the amount he has so far......
