When did we become Newcastle!!

Sat Oct 01, 2011 6:23 pm

i read this board on i daily basis, sometimes i contribute sometimes i don't but reading it as i have in the last few seasons i'm convinced that our fans are becoming more and more like newcastle. (i club who thinks they are far bigger and better than they are!) We all want the best for cardiff city but my opinion is that some of you have lost sight of reality! Firstly, as 2blue2handle is continously pointing out, the malaysians NEVER EVER said they'd bankroll us with countless millions to get us to the premiership, they said they would turn us into a self sufficient business. Now, all of a sudden everybody expects them to pump in countless millions in order to acheive premiership football.
Secondly, why do people think it's so easy to sign whoever, like if we put in a £100 million bid then messi would say yes i want to go to cardiff. There are number of factors in play here
1) if a premier league team comes in the player will almost inevitably go there
2) the player may not want to move to wales away from family members, friends and possible children who are settled in school
3) A club may not want to release a player we all think "malky should go and get"
4) malky may not think that there are many players who could improve us

I have said it before and i'll say it again, we should all be thanking the malaysians every day for saving the club we love, not constantly having digs at them on football forums!

Excellent post. I have said on many occasions we are NOT a big club. Used to think we were in the late sixties, quickly realised we were not but hoped and believed that we would become a big club. Sadly it has not happened in my time and I fear that we never will become a big club. One other thing that riles me and I believe would always be part of why we will never become a big club is the small mindedness of a lot of our supporters.
