Peter Ridsdale and Dave Jones: Worked together at Cardiff City
Cardiff City’s controversial former chairman Peter Ridsdale has taken a swipe at the Bluebirds’ ex boss Dave Jones - just days after revealing his plans to quit football.
In the week that he faced magistrates in Cardiff to answer fraud charges brought by the City of Cardiff Trading Standards Agency, the Yorkshireman couldn’t resist hitting back at sacked manager Jones, who he claims had previously spoken out about the transfers made during their time together in Wales.
The 59-year-old retail expert said: “I am disappointed that Dave Jones now appears to feel I made no contribution to the players we signed during that period, that it was all down to him and he could have done as good if not a better job without me as with me.
"I would question that but Dave is entitled to his own opinion."
Ridsdale, who’s outspoken account of his roller coaster ride at Leeds United “United we Fall” caused consternation in his home town years after resigning from his Elland Road post insists he's been judged unfairly by the football world he stepped into in 1987.
Sat sipping coffee in Cardiff’s Mercure Holland House hotel, more than a decade after proudly posing in the director’s box in Valencia’s Estadio Mestalla for a Champions League semi-final, Ridsdale said: “I’m fed up of being beaten up for what I think has been a good job.
"When I came to Cardiff I had a house in the area and lived there six days of the week.
"I gave the job everything I had, for good or ill.
“I’ve done the same at Plymouth. To do that and then be kicked all the time is hard. “There comes a time when it's difficult to get up again.”
Exhausted Ridsdale this week revealed he was ready to give up the game after what seems like 10 years of battling to save clubs - from his beloved Leeds United to Barnsley, Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle - from the demons of debt.
But in a rare outpouring of feelings, the tough northerner revealed the love that still burns inside him for the Bluebirds, confessing: “There is no secret that on the day I walked away from Cardiff City Stadium I was choked with emotion.
"How I would love to see Cardiff City in the Premier League. The fans at Cardiff are outstanding.
“The supporter base is fantastic and the infrastructure is ready for Premier League football."

peter did make some mistakes but there is no denying he helped save this club from a going to the wall and delivered the stadium and a better infastructure.
always found him quite charming and there is no doubt he could sell sand to the arabs.

I almost felt sorry for this guy then realised it was the Fiddler, you reap what you sow. I sincere hope all the Karma come back in one go and finish him off, he may as well wear a mask & a swag bag over his chipped crooked shoulder.

I always laugh now when I think back to the arrogant way Riddler always ridiculed Sam Hammam over Langston, yet the very same bloke has had imaginary American Investors for years now.
