Just thinking what a waste, constantly injured and apart from his aerial ability he was average, club record indeed

Yeah but he created a great song :ayatollah:

Re: Peter Thorne

If he wasnt injured then City would NOT have signed Andy Campbell who in turn would not have score THAT goal against QPR that got us where we are today :ayatollah: :D :ayatollah:

Re: Peter Thorne

Thorne also scored the winner against Bristol City in the playoff semi plus scored goals in the championship to keep us up. Tad overpriced maybe but still a good player

Re: Peter Thorne

Can't believe the name is going to be changed from Riverside FC

Re: Peter Thorne

He was also half of the most lethal partnership in the clubs history.

Re: Peter Thorne

Fri Sep 30, 2011 10:57 am

46 goals in 126 appearances, or a goal every 2.73 games. I don't think that's a bad record or are you talking about another Peter Thorne??

Re: Peter Thorne

The main reason why Earnie scored so many goals and unlike Earnie he scored important goals when it mattered. Over priced yes but one of my favourite City players down the years.

Re: Peter Thorne

Fantastic player and signing shame he was injury prone, His partnership with Earnie was superb. His fee was due to clubs inflating prices due to Sam Hamman being with us. :ayatollah:

I liked Peter Thorne, & personally, i think he more than paid for that fee with the goal he scored v Bristol City in our home play off, semi final. His only problem was he was a bit injury prone.

Peter Thorne was brilliant. Apart from the aforementioned injury problems, one of the best players City have signed in my (very long) time.

Absurd post.

very deep but true :ayatollah:

hows this for deep,

if any other keeper played in goals rather than bywater, the kicks would of landed different places which would of made a completely different game, and we may of won our play off semi final match

Re: Peter Thorne

thatcher is on a wind up i think, thorney was a classy player. overpriced sure but i will never forget that header hitting the back of the net v the wurzels, think it was the first time i had ever seen us beat them and it took us on the way to one great day and era :ayatollah:

my all time fave player! Thorne will allways be the true wearer of the magic hat. Legend! :ayatollah:

Re: Peter Thorne

Never believe the hype of £1.7 mill, he was about £1 mill, all chairmen exaggerate about how much they are paying, no one moaned when we signed him, If Thorne had not got injured he was quality :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: Peter Thorne

Personally think he was great buy. One of my fav players in city shirt. Agree, price was inflated however was relative to the other fees we were paying at the time. Earnie and thorne were the business. end off.

Peter Thorne was a very very good footballer.

If he'd have been a yard quicker he'd have played most of his career in the Prem. NQAT.

One of my all time favourite Cardiff strikers.
