Got interview tomorrow

I was laid off over 2months ago and this will be my 1st interview.I've worked all my life and it wasn't until i was laid off, that i realised thats there's very little jobs out there for anyone.I know one of the supervisors up there so im hoping this will help me.Charm n wit can only get you so far

Rob,put yourself in their shoes, you should always think what is it I'd like to hear the candidate say and you wont go far wrong. Tell them what they want to hear, not what you may want to say, don't ask about how many holidays you get, how much is the sick pay etc.

let them know your a team player, and whatever job your after, tell them if they short somewhere else you'll shovel shit if it helps them, explain your a team player and if needed will stay on and be as flexible as need be.

The other thing you should say to impress them, and if there are others going for a job then it's a fight, so make sure you use everything to win the fight. Tell them you are so keen and confident of your skills, you will willingly work on trial for a month for free if it helps them to make their mind up..


In reality, they can't take you up on the offer, they wouldn't be allowed to, but imagine hearing a candidate say that, it will make a mega impression. at the end of the day, do what you got to just to get the job because once your in there, its not that easy to get you out.

And by the way, best of luck and even if you fail this time, take things in and learn from the experience for the next time.

Gwyn,i think that went well.She looked very shocked when i said i was willing to work for free for a short period of time to ensure they got the right person .I explained that i had class 1 licence,forklift licence and i've had experience in using cranes,which could be used if i worked for them.I had a hours test to do,which my young son could have passed.thanks to everyone who wish me well in this interview,should here something by the end of next week,cheers
