Miller - mixed thoughts

Thu Sep 29, 2011 12:55 am

Ok in fairness he took his two goals very well tonight and most importantly i hope it gave him the confidence he needed to play at his best.

However i am still not 100% won over by him, i have been very disapointed with him up untill tonight so i feel we will need to see if he can carry on where he left of, in our next game.

Oh and another postitive i dident notice how quick he was untill tonight, really got moving at some points :ayatollah:

His runsare genuinly world class, he's not a modern day footballer who will take players on, he's an old fashioned striker! he done exactly what he was ment to do last night, find space and score!

All he needs is the service as shown last night he will put chances away. :ayatollah:

Still everything to prove but tonight was a big step. He will take big confidence from those goals

Miller is a top class player, superb running and finding space. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Someone like Mason next to him brings the best in him. If Malky can just get the rest if the team to play balls to his feet rather than his head, He will flourish!

I thought he was poor 1st half . I can't fault his effort or commitment , but in general his 1st touch is poor, he rarely puts pressure on the Goal keepers back passes, can't win a header to save his life and I'm not sure he's worth the 'rumored' 20 k a week wage bill

That said we're stuck with him and it's early days for both him and our players , so rather than knock him it's best to try and back him

Hes played 12 games and scored 4 goals so far, thats not a bad return. Time to get off his back?

Has he?

Steve hes played 9 games and scored 3 goals  i thought Miller was much better today playing with Mason, he found space for himself so many times during the game, whether it was outwide or in the box. If he can take that into the game against Hull, watch out. ;)

Miller has played out of position in every game so far. Tonight, Masons
movement allowed Kenny to get closer to the box. He scored two.

In the box, he is as dangerous as any other striker in this division
bar perhaps Kevin Phillips

I don't think he needs to prove anything to us his record says it all, give him the oppertunity and he will get goals in this division, no good aimlessly hoisting the ball to him, he needs the ball played in front of him so he can use his pace as was shown last night.

Agree. He is a proven goalscorer and malky and the midfielders need to work out how to get the best out of him. Anyone who seen his second last night dont need question how much of a predator he is. Classy finish.

It is not Mason who brings the best out of Miller, but Marshall who can launch the ball over the top of the centre-halfs ;)
