BEST PERFORMANCE I'VE SEEN AT NEW STADIUM

Went there hoping for a draw, after 20 minutes demanded a thrashing, what a team spirit and workrate, I have always been a results man, didn't care how we won as long as we won.

That blew me away tonight and that hasn't happened a lot over the last few years.

Cardiff's never say die attitude did it again for us Gwyn! Well impressed....

I never ever felt like that after a game when Jones was in charge apart from Leicester play off semi final, and FA Cup semi final. So to bring that feeling back all credit to Malky, the players and their new found confidence!

What I like about the sides Malky puts out is the whole work ethic of everybody in the side. Even with a massive injury list you know the eleven out there are going to be bloody hard to beat.

TBH i thought we looked very average 1st half and S'hampton looked a really good side, similar to brighton, although lacking something up front (despite scoring loads this season).
2nd half, thought we turned it around and were much better at closing them dwn and not letting them play. when they needed to chase the game we looked great.
game made up for sundays bore and it showed with the atmosphere

I must be getting old or mellowing, because I even enjoyed Sundays game, I think it' s more down to having lower or possibly more realistic expectations, that may be due to a more sensible approach by the manager and Gethin Jenkins for that matter,

The "if we don't do better with this squad than last years" appraoch" or ssomeone wants shooting"type of propoganda, possibly we have taken a lower key approach, and let's hope it works.

I agree with your analysis of the game.

I also agree with Gwyn that it's great to see the team with a bit more fight in them this year. It's not the gutsiest performance I've seen from the City at the new Stadium though, that would be the Leicester league game in 2009/2010. Paul Quinn was outstanding that night and that was a Dave Jones team.

gwyn a great night for the manager players back room staff for their work efforts with limited resources an exceellent display
and a great atmosphere malky just may be working them to hard on fitness as alot of players run out of steam after last few games but definately agree a great display well done city !

Would have had this game down as a draw before kick-off,and then at half-time.

More than happy with the way the 2nd half worked out for us,and the way the season has started under MM

It was surely the most gutsiest performance that is for sure But not the best performance. When we beat the Shitheads 3-0 was one of the best

All great results and memorable games, mind you none of them at the new stadium as the title states. And in all honesty there have been some great games at the new stadium, what I'm getting at is this to me was the best performance.
We had a patched up team, not many of us were expecting a win if we are honest and would have settled for a draw against a team sitting at the top of the division.

But the performance by the team as a whole with regard to work rate and effort was fantastic, did you see how they closed them don at every chance and chase down every ball, fantastic.

The other thing I loved was when Miller scored the first goal, did you notice two of the players ran 6o yards back to Marshall to give him big hugs for his excellent vision and speed of though to send the long ball straight through to Miller, a real team performance from one through to eleven, or twelve actually if you count Malky, because he kicked every ball along with them.

i have to agree with you there if i remember correctly didnt we go down to 10 men after gypes getting sent off that night

It was one of the best matches I've seen at City for a long time in terms of togetherness, effort and fans backing and cheering on the Team - All which produced the best atmosphere I've heard at the ground (since QPR at home).

I've got to give credit to Malky last nite , he called it spot on and so did the players . Also well done to the Southampton fans for coming down in such numbers on Wednesday nite and having a drink in the pubs around Cardiff with out a hint of trouble (which will never be reported in the press). Overall it was a great nite and can go to the afternoon shift happy
