" The Miners and Mikey "

Tue Sep 20, 2011 11:36 pm

Hello all.

I've decided to make this post as several people have enquired both on here and on planetswans with regard to the recent mining tragedy and the upcoming event in Mikeys name. I am posting it here as have stated on planetswans that I no longer want any negative comments regarding our decision to bring a side up to brynterion to play in this extremely worthwhile cause.
At the end of the day the event will be 100% in Mikeys name. And the reason behind this is that it was about a Welsh football fan who went to watch his country play and had his life taken away from him. so it's up to the football community to do what we can in his name and for his family.
The mining tragedy, whilst four fold was not football related and while we all have our deepest sympaties with the families of the deceased. It is down to the mining community and friends of the men who lost their lives to do what they can to help the families involved. I hope that covers everything. This is Mikeys day.

I have to agree with you, this football match with both our supporters all turning out and coming together to play and watch, will be done out of respect and a tribute to Mikey Dye and your post is spot on in my opinion.

Wolf, I have donated to the miners appeal and have felt for them dearly, but this match is about football and a special occasion for Mikey, it was already organised to do with Mikey and his family . :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Its a toughie this. I'd personally like to see it cover both tragedies, but can see where
your coming from. No 'criticism' should be levelled anyway, for what is a terrific tribute
to Dyeo.

I take my hat off to you mate
