I'm reading 2 books at the moment and one of them is Lenny Mclean .....I'm amazed by this guy, the shit he had to deal with growing up

...Now this was one HARD b*stard, if you like a good read then I recommend this book

...here is footage of what a fighter he was.(I'd put this guy up against anyone, one on one)....

Agreed mate. I picked that book up off a mates coffee table a few years back and finished it the next day. Very entertaining and easy read.
I've always thought that he and Mike Tyson were the two people in the world I would least like to ever have had to fight (or rather curl up in a ball). I'd come out like a cabbage.

Don't believe all you read most books are full of exagerations and figment of imagination. One of my best friends was in Diamond geezers by Kate Kray . It starts off that she first met him in a smoke filled pub on the old Kent road. Ha ha he gave the intervue on a bed in a motel! Yes he was a hard man . However in the ring his boxing skills would have been no match for a decent fighter.

You don't want to mess with him esp after seeing this clip:

The book is a good read.

Jonny Waldron knocked out Lenny Mclean twice, both in the first round and so did Cliff Field, this wasn't mentioned in Lennys book funnily enough .

When he beat Roy Shaw he was 13 yrs younger and looks about 4 stone heavier than him . Roy Shaw did beat him on another occasion. Never met Lenny but seen Roy several times at boxing events. I was suprised how small he was all be it he is elderly now. He half stumbled into me once , a bit worse for wear. as i stopped him stumbling i was shocked at how solid he still was. Neither obtained boxing licence, couldn,t have seen either following Queensbury rules

. Think Lenny died at 49 yrs old , Frank Warrens uncle .

In reality McLean and Shaw were big hard fuckers you wouldnt want to
mess with. But up against fit, dedicated boxers their size and weight
they usually came up short.
Big John Smith from Ely would have ironed them both out in his prime
cos he'd have been too big and too fit.
On the streets.. fear wins most fights
In the boxing ring, decent fighters learn to channel their fears

Spot on taffyapple J.S master of devastation. as for some of these cage fighters like Anderson Silva etc.they would have taken them out quicker than a New York heartbeat! Take nothing away from them though like you say hard fuckers and the type if you crossed them . you would wish you had a different postcode

Its a fair comment to say fear wins most street fights.Lots of people can talk the talk, but when it comes to the crunch their bottle goes or they are just not willing.
What all these blokes had mentioned here was a willingness to fight and not worry about the results.its that willingness that sets lots of people apart from others.if your a decent fighter and very willing you have a chance.if you dont have the stomach for it you best keep away from confrotation if you can.
these men never lost it....even when they had children and families and got older.thats when its hard and you lose the willing.

Bartley Gorman would have kicked all their asses

A good example of all this is Kimbo Slice. He was a devastating streetfighter
who terrified half of America.
He got wasted in the cage

My dad did the boxing scene and went to loads of unlicensed events. He saw this Guv'nor lose a few fights.

Not disrespecting the memory of the man. But if i was training twice a day, running
up mountains, sparring and pounding the heavy bag... I'd have had no fear of a feller
my size and weight who smoked 40 woodbines a day. Thats the long and short of
it really

Tut! You told me that he tried to plant one into you but you brushed him away like a house fly.

For the record, I've never heard of either of them but after looking at them both, my money is on the shorter lad
