Am I stupid? Was Saturday a one-off?

Mon Sep 19, 2011 5:38 am

When the season started I was pretty happy with the squad and especially with our new style of management thanks to an unproved Scotsman from Watford. I would prefer a squad that gived 100% every day than a squad who seem disinterested and a manager who looks like he doesn't care (although I am sure Dave Jones must have cared. Surely).

Anyway, I thought we would have a season of transition and consolodation in the top half of the table. Any playoff place would be a bonus but I would still be happy with a top half season to build on next year.

However, taking into consideration that I am a blond optimist when it comes to the City (I even was in the fourth division!) I am startking to raise my expectations due to firstly our fitenss, then our team ethic, our passionate manager and now a simply superb performance against the orange seasiders oop north.

I don't know if this is stupid blind optimism but I am feeling we have a great chance to make the playoffs or more should we play like we did on Saturday every week. My only concern is that Earnie and Miller are a bit old. Hopefully what Mr Curtis announces that we have signed a hungry Premiership youngster up front tomorrow night then I can become only a partially sighted optimist. come on City.

Personally I feel we can make the play-offs but we will need at least another 3 players, if Malky is supported in getting his players he needs, Malky will be the man to take us up :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Its not blind optimism, its a dose of realism mate.

Cover out wide for Craig Conway, a more recognised target man, and as Annis says,
perhaps one more quality player. When Malky gets these fellers in, it will be hard to
think of a better team than us in this division

However, im not sure a new striker needs to be young. Look at Kevin Phillips. As long
as he is hungry, fit, determined.. Look at Kevin Davies, still a threat for Bolton at 34...
there are plenty of young players storming through from midfield.
from midfield to join up with the attack.
