Thats what they should ahd done in stead of buliding a new one ....
All they needed to do was
Tart the outside up
new roofing
new seats in the seated areas
new turf
do the inside out a bit
I think CCS is a big waste of space and money Bring back ninian park
Sun Sep 18, 2011 5:17 pm

In my opinion all the new stadiums look horrible, the designs of 99 percent of them are awful. The only one I can think of that looks eye catching is Brightons new stadium. I was hoping the original design of the CCS would of been kept, because that in some ways was like Brightons new stadium, different and very unique in design.
I mean the jacks may call our new stadium legoland, but I take that as a compliment. If you look at the Liberty it is just your new average, common, boring looking stadium, much the same as ours. The only difference being is that the CCS has yellow, and blue brick like markings to make it stand apart from all the other boring white / grey looking looking exteriors that come with todays new stadiums.
The old lady Ninian park will always be missed, but any stadiums atmosphere is created by the fans, not by bricks / concrete.

I have commented on a different post regarding this.Put bluntly Ninians gone for god's sake move on and make the new stadium the best we can. After all its only who's in the ground that makes the atmosphere, not the ground itself.

Bring back Crispy Bangers from Walls. I liked them.

Would never of worked Chief. Putting seats on the old terracing is shit the view is terrible. New Stands would have to of been built the only one to get away with it was Grandstand and maybe the Bob Bank. But it was the space available we would never of got permission to build a new Grangend because of the houses behind. The only option would of been to completely knock the whole ground down and move it because of the space behind the Bob. But in short we would of had another CCS.

so basically all they needed to do was build a new stadium?
it probably would have cost more to do up Ninian than it would to make the CCS

When I'm a multimillionaire, then tough titty to all of you, because I am going to buy the club, and sell the ccs to the welsh doggers association. I will then move to the club to a replica of Ninian Park, but better. Any day soon.
Sun Sep 18, 2011 9:31 pm
While most(I think) would like to have stayed at NP - even the stuff you talked about would have been outwith the clubs financial limitations.
It's gone and we have tomove with the times. Rather than dislike the place because you liked NP, try and make it work. The atmosphere is there when folk want it to be - too many excuses for the quieter games though.
Sun Sep 18, 2011 10:08 pm
There were quiet games at Ninian Park too. Besides, you would have to evict all the people who have bought the houses there. It would have to be in exactly the same place, otherwise it would not be Ninian Park.
Sun Sep 18, 2011 10:13 pm
The new stadium is decent enough! As the years go buy more can be added to it! Its still a bit of a blank canvous, but has a lot of potential
Mon Sep 19, 2011 11:59 am
I think it was cheaper to go for the new ground rather than rebuild the Ninian.

We wouldn't have had the terracing.
Bob Bank and Grange End all seater.
Capacity would have been around 12-14k mark.
Get over the fact we had to move. Ninian served her purpose.

Well I think they could've remade it, but more like Villa Park (not 40k though as we wouldnt fill), make the capacity 25k with possibility to expand.

Bloody hell, didn't realise that Sam Tyler from Life on Mars posts on here.
I've got fond memories from the 70's as well - but I'm not stuck there and certainly dont want to return either.
Treasure the memory - but its time to move on ffs

I have, doesn't mean I like our new ground but I've moved on, just saying we COULD'VE rebuilt a new ground similar to NP.

Who would have paid for it?
Certainly no-one with enough money at the club at the time, no-one from outside remotely interested in us and we would have had to raise what, £30m - if not more.
We struggled to raise (and are still paying for) the relatively small amount in comparison that we had to find for the new ground.

I for one like the CCS. Apparantly, most visiting supporters are quite impressed.
As regards atmosphere, that's down to us lot. Would help if all the singers/standers were in the Canton. Don't see the point in spending the match gesticulating and snarling at the visiting fans.
Also too many fans get to their seats late and leave early. Some seem so desperate for a pint, they only see about 30/35 mnutes of the first half.
Just needed to get that off my chest!

Which is why, if you read my previous posts, I said it was cheaper to get the new stadium.

No we couldn't have rebuilt NP, we'd never have permission, one access road and everyone spilling out onto it, for God's sake, things move forward. I had great times at NP, but we had to get out of there if we were ever to have a future and a chance of Premiership football.
