Shit. And the scousers remain blameless. How do we have a worse reputation than that lot?

Don't think they remained blameless ,they were banned from Europe after that.

thats shocking!! i wasnt born when it happened but have always wondered why the liverpool fans and the kop have always been the media darlings throughout my relatively short life as a football fan. hate them myself! i dont understand where their 'great fans' reputation comes from. they are only loud for man united at home! obviously hillsborough was terrible but thats always brought up but heysel seems to be pushed into the background and never mentioned. if cardiff done this it would stay with us forever but liverpool seem to keep their perfect fan image. twats!!!

You were right, though, he does.

Anyway, I remember that night, watching it all on the telly. The ground was in an appalling state. The Italians were throwing stuff at the Scousers for a long time (sound familiar to any Welsh fans who went to the San Siro?) and the Belgian police did nothing. When the Scousers finally cracked and ran through the poxy attempts at dividing fences, the Italians ran away, as they've always done. The walls fell down due to the crush to get out.

When the Italians were attacking the police after that, one of them had a gun, said to have been a starting pistol. He was at a football match, so why did he have it and how did he get in the ground with it?

This may sound harsh, but I have no sympathy for the Italians on that night, due to the fact that if they'd left the Scousers alone, the trouble may not have occurred.
