Being in a job already gives you a better opportunity to better your self. Something to fall back on so I don't blame you for bettering your self if you can. All the best with the job search :ayatollah:

I worked in the furniture trade all my life, I had a fantastic time and a good standard of living, then I was made redundent and moved to other furniture factories, but one by one they were all closed and the work taken abroad or to other parts of the country, so I thought I need security and at the age of 56 yrs young I wanted out of the factories, so I now work with young offenders trying to give back some of my experience that I have gained during my life time, my advice to you is make sure it's better than what you've allready got, if not keep looking untill something comes up and then grab it with both hands, best of luck.

31 not too late too change. The government will have changed the retirement age, so you still probably have 40 years to go in your new career! ;)

I learnt plastering down penarth road used a lot of my holiday days to get through the training whilst keeping my job. I am just finding it hard to get experience as getting no hits on websites for work, admittedly I am not the most confident of people so am limiting myself to advertising for small jobs until I know I am good enough

I suggested it before, I'll suggest it again - Prostitution.

That shit is one profession that never has job losses or redundancies - Ask Milly :ayatollah:

David Jason decided to become an actor at 35 years old and went on to become Del Boy in only fools and horses, the guy who invented KFC was in his 60s when he did it, so never too late mate. I also did it at 30 years old and almost trebled my old salary within 2 years doing a job I love.

My advise, decide exactly what it is you want to do that will genuinely make you happy and go for it.

Good link to Careers Wales Malaga, that's who I work for lol! Ely boy have a think about your transferable skills, do youneed to retrain for your new career?? Can you afford this in time and money? If you have a self employment business idea, go through Flexible Support for Business, they will help you for free and help you create a Business Plan, which you will need for the bank. Future growth areas in South Wales, Cardiff, are Creative Media, I.T. Life Sciences, Renewable Energy, Customer Service (call centres in Cardiff). If you are made redundant from a Welsh Company you may be eligible for Re Act funding £1,500 towards training. Good luck, start job searching to give you an idea of what's around locally, although most jobs aren't advertised so just send a C V and Covering Letter to employers you want to work for, also consider work shadowing or voluntary to get some relative experience in your new field! :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Stick to what you're doing dude. The average death rate in this country is 50s to 60s so you are better off where you are.
