Darren Purse

Just wondering if the members of this forum would once again be able to assist me?

On Monday I am meeting former City captain, Darren Purse, to discuss his time with us. I was just wondering if anyone had any memories, or stories of Darren, that could help form the basis for some of my questions? I have covered most of the well known areas, but as with my research on Phil Dwyer, I found that some fans on here had some brilliant anectdotes which were not widely known and these went on to become some of the most interesting topics.

Any help guys would be much appreciated! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

No real stories but the guy is a true gent. Only met him at the player of the year awards and took his captain responability seriously. One of few players who seemed to actually enjoy speaking with fans and always the last player to stay. Compare that to current club captain Mr Hudson who was one of the first out the door last door.

Only met and chatted with him once and that was outside the ground after his debut for us. As I recall we'd conceeded a late equaliser and the guy was gutted. He still found time to chat for a couple of minutes and I never once did I get the feeling he just wanted to get away. Judging from whats been written above I hope you're able to pass on the thanks from the majority of the fans for his efforts while he was with us.

This was a common theme whenever those robbing bastards were at ninian! I remember being in A Block and i think it was southampton who dyer and bradley wright-phillips played for... and dazza was on the bench warming up infront of us, along with dyer and wright-phillips, and we all chanting "Darren! watch ur purse! darren darren watch you purse!" and the three of them were going along with the banter, pretending to rob darrens 'purse'! had me in stitches!!

An exceptional servant to the club! for that he will always be a legend in my eyes! :old: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
