SWANSEA CITY TRANSFERS BLOCKED

Thu Sep 15, 2011 1:07 pm

Swansea City is disappointed to announce that Fifa has initially turned down the club's bid to sign Darnel Situ and Rafik Halliche.

The club agreed a £250,000 transfer fee for Situ from French club Lens and a loan deal for Halliche from Fulham on transfer deadline day.

However, due to minor delays in processing the transfers, Fifa has informed the club that they will not grant international clearance for either defender. This is despite the full backing of The Premier League, The FAW, FA, French Federation and the PFA.

The club is currently waiting for official written confirmation from Fifa before considering entering into an appeals process.

Swansea City is disappointed with Fifa's decision and are currently pursuing other options to strengthen the squad.

The club will not be making any further comment at this stage until full written clarification is received from Fifa.

Just had a call from some Scottish guy asking if I knew where the Liberty was and could I get there for 3PM Saturday, said he'd heard I was a centr half.

Did explain that I'm 41 now, only ever played amateur football, am my back is fecked, but if he could match my best wages -£10 worth of beer after the match I'd consider it.

The reply was 'hmmm Monk should be available...'... 'how many pints was that for £10?'
