This has been posted on a Facebook tribute page for Mikey this evening from a man called Robert Gee-Wing:

"please everyone stop requesting Tara O she is not a reporter she is a friend of mine and I am a friend of Mikeys have been for nearly 30 years its a cock up confusion she wrote for their health n nutrition colum, she a single mum with kids scared shitless"

Tara responded with:

"thanks rob, when your getting 50 requests and about 20 inboxes and they are threatning abusive and bullying i was scared my kids were scared ive been a nervours wreck but this isnt about me its about someone who has lost their life, and these guys are bullies n like i told rob he knows who each and everyone of them are i dont even want an apologly of any of them bullies are cowards and they are disgraceful, im just blessed i had rob and naomi if not i dont know what i would of done.. im so sorry this on mikes wall but i have a family to protect as well thanks again guys love light and blessings xxx"

I didn't mail her myself and agree it would be awful if people have mistakenly vented their anger to an innocent woman. So I Just Googled her to see if I could find out more info. It appears Tara O Shaugnessy was a indeed a contributing Editor for Health & Fitness with the "News of the World" up until it shut down, so that bit does appear to be correct.

However, I would still have to question why would she suddenly start to send out numerous friend requests to strangers who are Cardiff City fans in the imediate aftermath of recent events? I think personally that all objections to the shameful press behaviour should go through the right channels to the Press Complaints Commission instead of individuals as it has to be correctly investigated that way.

Given the circumstances, we all have to err on the side of caution. No one can be trusted at the moment.

Don't sink to their level lads. Hold your respect and dignity and don't resort to personal attacks. Go through the Press Complaints Commission and we'll get them that way, the dignified way.
