THE MONEY FOR BELLAMY

Sat Sep 03, 2011 9:28 am

If as we read we did make an eleventh hour bid for Bellars, then surely any monies available for that deal could be used to finance some good quality loan signings, fingers crossed.

what amuses me gwyn is the club have come out and said they made an 11 th hour bid to bring bellamy back to cardiff when everyone was aware from last season that he wanted to come back if we could agree terms,to me this seems like the club are trying to pull the wool over the fans eyes

I think a lot of Bellamy lovers need to wake up.. Man City did us a massive favour last season that we should be thankfull for and for us to expect them to do it again is mad totally unfair just because they are a rich club they can do what they like they owned Bellamy paid £14 million for him and paid a fortune in wages to play for us.

They wanted some money back from him and I do not blame him I am shocked that this board is still talking about Bellamy at all we have to move on

I think you'll find this topic is set up in regard to the money that should now be available, rather than us missing out on Bellamy.

I dont believe for one minute that was a genuine bid, it was to save face by the club(Malaysians)

Mackay said that Man City did not make him available until the last minute. That there was no point in talking to them until then as they didn't know what they were going to do with him. It seems they were hoping for a fee.

Tim we knew for days officially ( over a week unofficially ) that Bellamy had been granted a free transfer, I also question this 11th hour bid.

Just repeating what mackay said in the paper.

At the end of the day we can't compete with Liverpool anyway.

Craig as well as the club were expecting a deal where man city paid craig off a portion of the outstanding year of his contract and the malaysians would make up the shortfall.
the fly in the ointment was that man city gave craig a free transfer as oppossed to settling his contract which neither parties had considered.
i believe craig did want to come back to the club but he would have been a fool to lose all that money and the chance to play in the premiership again so both parties move on and hopefully we bring in 3 quality loan signings with the available money from what would have been craigs wages.
malky had always said in a press conference that all the players he was looking to sign on a free had gone and that he would look at the loan market.

I thought that Carl or Annis or someone said on here a while ago that the Malaysians were prepared to pay wages of £20,000 or £30,000 pw whatever the figure was but that this was outside of the budget that Malky had been given. If that is correct then that money was only going to be available if we got Bellamy so I assume is no longer there to pay the wages of any loan signings. Malky will have to use whatever money he has left in the budget he was given to pay the wages for the loan signings ( plus of course any loan fee any the clubs may want- something that the premier league clubs now seem to be demanding).

the only way we could afford him was to wait until the deadline had passed, forcing man city to let him go out on loan. Liverpool came in before the deadline with a permanent deal, on lower wages but with a signing-on fee. Thats why we came in and tried to sort something out before the deadline, but there was no way we were going to be able to compete with that.....

Back to the point of the thread...

IF we have saved 30k a week on Bellamy, we could get two
very good players in.

Miller Earnie dont work, i doubt if Malky ever really thought it would
but they were the cards he was left with to start the season, apart
from youngsters

Was'nt there a statement or tweet from somebody at the club, saying that after we finally signed up Ben Turner, that there would be no further business involving Cardiff City that day.
