He had around £2.5million by my reckoning and got 9 players and a loan without losing anyone, plus has some on trial.

Re: Sold down the river again

Wed Aug 31, 2011 7:31 pm

i never expected him to have much to spend. there are debts to be paid after all.

I think he's done well, budget or no. You can't expect a bunch of expensive signings because chances are they're gonna be pre-madonnas.

I forgot players play for free. Novel concept that.

The figure quoted was for transfers, signing on fees and WAGES for the entire squad.

In case you'd not noticed, spend spend spend has hardly worked previously. Might want to see how much Blackpool, Swansea et al spent to go up...

People forget, although I agree with the wages etc, Swansea and Blackpool had goalscorers, you honestly feel either earnshaw or miller will bag 20+ goals.. No chance.

We hav missed out big time on some exceptional free transfers who possibly could have.

We've got quality in the likes of Whittingham, Conway and Cowie. Gunnarsson looks promising and so does Kiss. Gestede looks a good youngster too.

Re: Sold down the river again

Can't see them getting 20+ between them

Re: Sold down the river again

Wed Aug 31, 2011 7:42 pm

At least we have a squad who work hard for each other,we did not have that last year.Lets wait and see before we all start the doom and gloom ffs,IN MALKY WE TRUST :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

A few years ago i'd defend Cardiff fans to the hilt to anyone that would listen, i'd talk about our passion and commitment to our club.

I don't bother any more, so many cry babies that are always on the look out for a moan. Swansea have signed f**k all this transfer window and even now nothing is certain for them. Yet they aren't bitching in the numbers that our fans our, honestly it's pathetic.

we are a club in debt let's not forget that and there is nothing such as a free transfer in football in fact sometimes these so called free transfer cost just as much as if we paid a transfer valve as any decent agent will get a higher salary for those decent players who have seen out there contract

Which 20 goal scorer did Swansea had? Sinclair's figures were inflated by penalties.

20+ goal scorers at our club?

Earnshaw, 2 in 5. 46 divided by 5 is 9.2 - 9.2 times 2 is 18.4 goals over a season. Hardly far away from the figure you want...

I think we all built our hopes up when we heard we had 20 million for transfers and wages. No way with all the players we've got rid of have we even come near that 20million for the year!!

30 years I have supported them mate these are the good times just think we not moving forward I don't tell me not to support them mate

Boro last season, spent spent and spent and built a strong team on paper, touted favourites to go up.......that went well for them......

Leicester this season, spent a fair bit tbh, they havent done to great either.

We've spent when needed and signed quality players on free's and then signed a promising loan player with malky saying he's willing to dip into the loan window more if needed.

Right, I apologise. But WHO told you what the budget for players was.
Did the Club issue a statement? Did Malky say how much he had??

NO

Rumours and suppositions.

Dont let them cloud your judgement.

the debt is under control, we are not paying extortionate wages for players
who cannot get their 'heads right' or for players that just arent good enough.
We are pushing the academy again. We are getting in raw young talent such
as Mason and Gestede who may be worth millions in one or two years. We
have a nucleus of players that is in my opinion BETTER than last seasons..
we are just missing the one or two we need for a promotion push.

this club is 100% in a far far better position than it was this time last year.

Thank the new owners

the malaysians were investing 20 million into the club not 20 million just for players.
that 20 million is for debts, staff wages, players wages and signing on fee's.
there was 30k a week put aside for craigs wages which means if he does not come it allows malky to fetch in three quality loan players with a budget of 30k a week to spend.
we are only 5 games in ffs give people a chance to gel and the manager time to finalise his squad.
the premier clubs announce their 25 man squads tomorrow and there will be a number of quality players available on loan.
i dont exactly see the superstars like chopra, jet and bothroyd pulling up any tree's for their new clubs yet.
i am certainly happier with what malky is bringing to the club regarding youth and enthusiasm compared to the bunch of has beens jones brought in in the January window which effectively killed off our promotion dream.

agree we are in a far better position. but as you stated above 1 or 2 players away from a promotion push..

they surely we do have the room and the budget available for 2 more players to make this promotion push , shouldnt we be looking to do it now. not jan.. we could be 20 points away from promotion by then.. as we know in this league every goal for and against and every single point counts...
