Disappointed but not angry!

Wed Aug 31, 2011 4:51 pm

Like a lot of people on here this evening, IF we don't sign anymore players i'm disappointed cos i think we need at least another 3 to challenge. As i have already said i think malky is doing a fantastic job and it is a massive ask to get a squad together to challenge in so little time. The squad we have at the moment though severly lacks pace going forward and also another option up front.
Do i blame the malaysians or malky for not spending enough money? NOT A CHANCE!
I think the malaysians have come in and saved us from being where plymouth are (or worse)!!! This season is, and always was going to be a tough season, the amount of money west ham and leicester are spending is absolutely ridiculous for this level and i'm glad we're not even attempting to compete with them as i believe if either of these clubs fail this year they're doomed!!
I think as supporters we need to step back and realise that the malaysians dont owe us anything. They have no connection to Wales or Cardiff City yet they lose money on this project year by year in paying off debts and trying to put our club back in the black. I'm not naive and i know they wouldn't do it if there wasn't profit in it for them long term, but i also believe that this year is an incredibly difficult championship and a totally different animal to last year. I think they MAY be adopting a strategy of stabilising this year and challenging when we only need to add to our squad (rather than build a whole squad) next year. Lets get behind the malaysians, malky and the players this year and hope we can build a siege mentality and reach the play offs and see what happens. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

surely the malaysians want a return on their investment as soon as possible, the longer we are in the championship the less chance the have of getting a return.. and having to constantly pump more money in..

with a push for promotion and the rewards of the prem league the sooner they get there the better imo..

what is roughly the financial reward package for getting to the prem? 60, 70 , 80 mil + .. if we spent just 4 or 5 mil this transfer window , it could have improved the squad drastically..

also , what teams actually outlay the millions straight away... the payments are normally spread over so many months/years ...

So do you expect them to pay wages like 50-60k a week like west ham did with nolan and most of their players, or offer 6.5 million for jelavic! Gambles like this can be INCREDIBLY expensive if they don't come off and can end up with no Cardiff City. I for one, would prefer they didn't adopt this method but rather look to enhance our scouting network and our youth system and try to build a far less expensive but just as good squad for far less money! :ayatollah:

no dont expect stupid wages of 50k.... but some cash avail for transfers and wages etc... like i said, 5 mil, could have got us that bit of depth and quality that we are looking for and make the difference between being a top 6 team and being a mid table side..

im all for bringing youth in.. mm is doing a fab job at that.. imagine if we had mm when we had ramsey... mason and ralls rtc are very exciting prospects and im glad to see them given game time.. but you also need that experience and quality to go with it and that unfortunately that does not come for free or cheap...

i agree with your points but i think it would be wiser to consolodate while teams are spending scandalous amounts this year then make more money available next year when hopefully the league returns to normality and malky has had more time to scout players suitable for us. :ayatollah:

Consolidate consolidate consolidate ... is the name of the game
Build a youthal squad over next 1/2 seasons and reap the rewards
I bet the guys who are demanding we spend big now are youngsters who were not around when we finihed 3rd bottom of old 4th division and went on an upward climb with sams (our) millions to get ourselves in the shit we are in today
I would bet a £1 that one of west ham or leicester dont go up and they f**k themselves over in the process ... Also i would wager a team that has been built on the cheap ie .. us, southamton, brighton, blackpool etc go up
money dont buy success as they say ... Personally i hope its leicester
Look at what norwich and swansea have done .. well run clubs that are now enjoing the good seeds they sown
Id be happy with a top 10 finish me

At last someone who comes fom the real world!!!!!! Langston is a millstone around any hope we have of big money signings hence the big push last year to get to the EPL. I believe MM is no fool and is putting the blocks in place for a promotion push towards the end of this year or probably next year. IMO
