iphone or galaxy s2

Fri Aug 19, 2011 2:16 pm

hey i am considering on getting one of these two mobiles simply because they are the best two phones out there.

i just can not decide between them tho, i have looked and lots of reviews and specs and on paper the galaxy s2 blows the iphone out of the water it has a more powerfull processor plus it is dual so over x2 faster. bigger screen, better graphics, better resolution, better battery life. i cannot find a fault with the galaxy s2 and it looks better.

so why am i still being drawn towards the iphone.. dosent make sense, anyone got a argument for either phone ?

 steve!

There is an equal split on the forum for both phones.

P.s. Dual processor does not mean it's twice as fast either. Depends on the actual processor speed - however iPhone 5 is out soon - if I was you I'd wait for that as it blows both away! ;)

If you don't want to wait - just go with your instincts and pick the phone you think you'll get along with best. Don't let others make your mind up - both phones are good, so which ever you chose, won't be a mistake ;)

i can only speak for myself mate and i was in the same predicament as you. i opted for the galaxy s2 and i love it. i agree with merlin that iphone 5 will prob be better but one major advantage that the samsung has for me (which the iphone will never have) is that u can upload avi films and tv programmes straight to ur phone without converting them. i downloaded the barca vs madrid game to my pc the other night then transfered it to my phone in 30 seconds

There are lots of cheap apps on iPhone that play avi files, I use cinexplayer to play avi files on my iPhone and iPad.

On the plus side of the iPhone - once jailbroken (simple process) you can do all the things other phones can do and more!! There ways to watch flash media using the right software and apps - also what the iPhone and it's os will have soon through iTunes is a new process called icloud, which will allow wireless connection to all your advices and pc/mac to stream any video/audio to your phone! All your photos and info can be shared on your icloud to all your devices simultaneously - the new ios5 (operating system for apple devices) is due out in sept - and will give a whole new feel and look to apple devices.... :ayatollah:

I sold my IP4 and bought an S2 a few months back. Having used the two I would say they both have the good and bad points. As Merlin said dual core doesn't mean twice as fast.

The screen on the S2 is the best on any current phone on the market. App wise the iPhone has more apps and even the apps made for Apple and Android they seem to be more polished for the iPhone.

SD cards and changeable batteries are a plus for the S2. iTunes is a big plus for the IP4.

Both can be Jailbroken/Rooted and open up a vast range of things you can do to either.

My advice would be to wait to see what the IP5 brings which is due shortly.

If the IP5 is a similar spec to the SG2 I will be selling my SG2 and buying an IP5.

Quick Post regarding the iphone 5 processor rumour.

iPhone 5: A5 processor and Qualcomm chips

The Wall Street Journal was again amongst the first to report that “people familiar with the matter” had confirmed the iPhone was to receive an overhauled chipset in order to contend with a rise in competitive high-end smartphones running versions of the Google Android operating system.

Apple is tipped to ditch the 1GHz A4 processor found inside the iPhone 4 for the dual-core A5 CPU. Apple used the same A4 chip in its iPhone 4 as in its original iPad, so repeating this trick with the A5 chip like they have for the iPad 2, would see the iPhone 5 in line with upcoming dual-core processor powerhouses like the Samsung Galaxy S2 and the HTC Sensation.

On the wireless chipset providers front, Infineon may make way for Qualcomm, likely in a bid to avoid connectivity issues previously faced with the iPhone 4.

Other rumours include an 8 mp Camera/video recorder to allow for full 1080p HD recording as apposed to the current 5mp camera on the ip4 allowing 720p recording , a screen 1/2" bigger than iphone4, a new 64GB model, and Wireless updating through itune/icloud.

The new iOS5 software updates reveals alot of new features that they expect the iphone 5 to be running. including a full notification homescreen page, to keep you up to date with everything you're interested in!

The downside for people that buy outright is that the phone will cost in the region of £512-£600 depending on memory size!
