Motorcycle parking update

Mon Aug 15, 2011 1:39 am

Someone posted a question this week in relation to motorcycle parking for home matches. At todays game I made a point of making some enquiries regarding this issue. I firstly approached the parking attendants in the retail park and asked could we park motorbikes there on matchdays. The reply from them was that on match days they would book all vehicles including motorcycles.
I then approached the car park staff in the CCS and was told that there were designated bays in the CCS opposite the canton at the far end of the car park near the perimeter fence near the road. The car park attendant then went on to say that sometimes they fill these bays with cars on busy days but not to worry as motorcycles were also allowed to park on the hatched areas at the end of each row so parking a bike will never be an issue.
I then asked was there any charge for this parking and the attendant contacted his superiors to check and stated that it was free and that all we needed to do was come in the main entrance and we would be let in with no charge.I also noticed that there is an exit right near the motorcycle bays straight onto the main road so exiting the stadium after the match is not an issue. I will be using this facility from now on and have no doubt others will follow.

Yes, I asked the question, so thanks for taking the time to find out. Appreciated....

I actually took my bike today and (as you said) the motorcycle parking bays are at the rear of the stadium next to the 'Old Ninian Park Gates' which now adorn the entrance to the new stadium from Sloper Road....

Access is FREE and I saw several bikes parked on the 'hatches' throughout the stadium. There were also disabled cars parked in two of the motorcyce bays, which (fortunately) was not a problem....

Getting out was easy enough (except for a little bit of a wait for the crowd and supporters buses to disperse) as the bays are next to the Sloper Road entrance....

Pretty easy and pretty safe. Well done the Bluebirds for providing the facility :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Thanks for the update. It is important (as you have highlighted) that fans understand that they are also allowed to park a motorcycle on the hatched areas at the end of each row. This gives the motorcyclist a vast choice where they can park and due to the amount of these hatched areas there will always be space for bikes at the CCS. As I work shifts, the only way I can get to work on time when I am on a nightshift is to leave 10 mins early during a match which is a pain, again yesterday it took me about 40 mins to exit the retail park where parking is frowned upon by the club and I also run the risk of getting booked.
It would have been nice if the club had publicised the motorcycle parking at the CCS and they had the perfect opportunity when they warned fans about parking in the retail park areas so they missed a trick there. Thanks again for bringing up this issue and this messageboard should highlight such issues by having this type of information on permanent display in the announcements section in order that other fans can benefit from this knowledge.

Rang the club today to confirm the above and they stated that as long as the motorcycles use the main car park entrance then we are free to use the car park on the hatched areas or designated bays.

So why are "Motor" bikes free and "Motor" cars not?

Just wondering why?

Motorbikes are free to go over the Severn Bridges as well :D I used to be a biker and i will be getting one again so that is interesting to know about the CCS :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

That's a good question....

Just gald they are, because the car park is (relatively) secure and accessible....

Maybe the small amount of space they take up, most arrive as solo riders, and the time it would take to 'pay' is a factor??

Either way, I think it is very good of the club to provide the spaces in the first place.... :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

I recently bought a 500cc bike just to enable me to get home in time when I am on night shifts, the alternative was to leave a match 10 mins early to avoid the traffic so its a no brainer. You can park inside the stadium for nothing without the risk of being booked so I cannot understand why more fans don't take advantage of this facility.Even if you don't have a topbox to hide your helmet, you are allowed to take your helmet into the stadium and put it under your seat during the game.
There are still many fans who own bikes who are unaware of the facility because I saw two fans on Saturday parking bikes in the retail park and walking over to the stadium. Why would you do this when you can still get booked for bike parking in the retail park and also having to walk further?

Hi Folks,
Can anyone confirm that the info in this thread is still valid - these things can change. I'll be heading down on my bike at the weekend - still no issues parking bikes at the stadium?

Thanks.
