Orange iphone4 contract buy out scheme.

Wed Aug 10, 2011 1:36 pm

Now with the new IPHONE5 on its way, Orange have a problem, the large majority of customers who would naturally go for the iphone 5 are stuck in on an iphone4 24 month contract as it was by far the best selling handset of the last 12 months.

Therefore Orange will be introducing a scheme where you can buy out your existing iphone contract at a heavily discounted price if you have had your IPHONE4 for longer than 12 months. Usually to buy yourself out of your 12 months remaining on contract on a, lets say, £40 a month tariff, you'd usually have to pay £480 to pay that off. Id imagine it will be a lot, lot, lot less than that.

I have a 32g iphone4, im gonna flog mine for about £280, £300 quid and use part of that money to pay off the £45 contract through that scheme and get the 5 without paying a dime. Don't forget your iphone4 is an asset, sell it on!

Not sure how its gonna work exactly as that is as much as I know, thought id let you Orange iphone users know. :ayatollah:

Could be tactical marketing by Apple...no one has a clue! We all reckon it'll be late September, logic says so. It would be financial suicide to release the 5 after xmas! I do reckon they have had problems behind the scenes which has delayed it. Lets wait and see.

Tsunami didnt help either, as manaufacturing is carried out in Japan.

I've been out of contract with my 3GS for 3 months waiting for the IPhone 5.... Was very tempted to get the Galaxy S2 but so far ive managed to hold out. Apple need to get some sorta announcement out tho, if another nice android came out and apple still remain quiet, I may jump ship

I would wait to buy one, they have some things to ipad2 cases leather ipad 2 case iphone 4s cases work out, including the AT&T EDGE 'G2' service, which is much slower than EDGE 'G3' service..!!! Also battery is not user replaceable, among other issues...

Actually they are manufactured in California/china. And I'll bet my mortgage we won't see another iPhone until spring 2012. Especially as iPhone 4S is now their fastest selling handset and reports suggesting apple profits will hit $40billion by rhe end of this quarter!!! - no need for iPhone 5 yet..... .

Yes, slightly shocked to find that out, previously I was told over the years that it was Japan and it just stuck in my head. Apple are very clever, building their portfolio up so that there will be an iphone for all walks of people with different budgets. People from 3gs get the 4s, 4 get the 5 and so on. I believe in 10 years 1 in 2 will have an iphone.

Seeing as this thread has been resurrected I might as well give you all updated info, now I know what the score is. Basically Orange can upgrade you as early as you want....what they do is deduct 33% off the remaining months you need to pay and you have to pay the remainder off in one go in store. To be fair though, most who go for the 4s will be on the 3gs and will already be coming to the end of their contract...clever Apple.
