Double Standard Policing

I love the way the police are standing off from these Chavs, afraid to get involved in a toe to toe in fear of being accused of being too heavy handed after the death of Ian Tomlinson.

We all know what happened with the lads who got caught up in the Chelsea v Cardiff nonsense but the Old Bill didn't hold back that day, wading in with batons being openly deployed.

So what's the difference?

It seems as though football fans are an easy target and the police feel they can wade in indiscriminately without fear of repercussion and these pond life know that the police are too afraid to stop them. They are causing millions of pounds worth of damage that will hit the pockets of every one of us. What damage did the lads at Chelsea do except for slapping a few cockneys who wanted a tear up?

Another thing I noticed when watching the news last night was that if the police accept that this is a riot situation they are liable to pay for all the damages out of their own budget (correct me if I'm wrong). Watch this get turned into a 'public disorder' now so that they can avoid all financial responsibility!!

IMO the police at footballs have the strength knowing it is a bit of banter and that football fans will just go home eventually and all they have to do is hold firm and it will die down

in these londn instances its like shall we say an 'anything goes' situation. the locals dont have much to lose, they are using any weapons they can and they are out to injure and hurt. they are relentless in larger numbers and much more dangerous.

But had the trouble all started in a place like Middlesboro which is predominantly
white... the coppers would have steamed in and leathered everyone before
