Dave Jones' 'Expert Opinion' in the Telegraph

Fri Aug 05, 2011 11:19 am

Article in the Daily Telegraph today, with Jones giving his 'expert opinion' on the Champ. this season. Here's what he wrote about Cardiff:

Key Ins
Conway, Cowie, Earnshaw, Miller
Key Outs
Bothroyd, Matthews, Chopra
Dave Jones Says
When the previous manager has kept the club near to the top for five years, the new manager now has to sustain that.

Find it funny that he mentions Matthews as a 'key out'. Obviously not key enough to play him more last season! Also no mention of Bellamy as a key out? Egos clashing there a bit I think.

It looks like he's also trying to put a downer on Malky with that comment as well! 'If he doesn't finish near the top, then I'm better than him!'

Looks like Jones is trying to go down the pundit road, as he's obviously not 'expert' enough for any club to hire him!

Stopped reading at "Expert Opinion"

In all seriousness though, he needs to be really careful about what he says, there were/still are a lot of fans who appreciate ehat he has done, that will drop faster than a hookers knickers if he continues to slag the club off (like yesterday's talksport interview). :ayatollah:

I think Gunarrsson could be a really effective addition as well - the way he linked up with Whitts in a couple of the pre-season games (I only saw the highlights on Cardiff City Player) looks very encouraging.

I like the look of all the players brought in and from what I've seen of Malky and his staff I think things look good - but of course only time will tell. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Just to say im assuming Bellamy isnt a key out as he was a loan player.

DJ rated Oli highly so he would have been a key out aswell.

Last seasons final league positions, key players in and out and clubs to and from would have been supplied
by the Telegraph's own people.Jones was only employed to state his opinions regarding the clubs' prospects for the coming season and comment briefly on any special pressure the managers of various
clubs might be under.
For example:Leicester."When you've spent the kind of money that Sven Goran Eriksson has spent this
summer, you simply have to go up."
Nott'm Forest:"Nothing less than promotion will satisfy the club's great support."
Derby:It's a big season for the Rams with promotion or a place in the play-offs a must."
So,his comment regarding Malky having to keep the club "near to the top",is in keeping with the rest of
the article and does not constitute a sly dig at our new manager.
The Dave Jones era has come and gone and it's about time that all the glory junkies on here accepted
that and concentrated on getting behind the new regime.
