Biggest match in Lithuanian football history...

Tue Aug 02, 2011 4:26 pm

...BATE vs Ekranas, 3rd qualification round of Champions League, if we we get a draw or a win - we are going to 4th round, and guarantee ourselves at least Europa League group stage - a feat that nobody has achieved :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: just wanted to share my enthusiasm haha :old:

I had a mate who lived in Vilnius. He was a total legend so I'm a supporter of FK Zalgiris Vilnius I'm afraid.

Good luck though. I love it when lesser known teams make the group stages. Adds some refreshment to the draw.

Good luck.

Went to Vilnius and Kaunus around 2003 and loved it.

we are terrible :ayatollah: were down 1-2 at HT, they had a man sent off, match ended 3-1, they dominated us   Vilniaus Zalgiris is THE Lithuanian club, they were through some really rough times a few years ago, but now it's over :ayatollah:
whatever, at least we got unbelievably easy WC Qualifying Group draw

EDIT: you enjoyed your stay in Lithuania? We all want to get the f**k outta there

How far did Ekranas get when they beat Rangers?

it wasn't Ekranas, it was FBK Kaunas. They lost to Aalborg in 3rd round (winner gets to group stage) and then lost to Sampdoria in Euro Cup last qualification round. Romanovas obviously eliminated any chances of them defeating Aalborg by sending key players to Hearts few days before the match. (I hate that club with passion, but it wouldve been huge for Lithuanian football if they wouldve defeated Aalborg)

Sorry, I got confused. Ekranas were the ones that got knocked out by Cork City a few years back I think?
