Is the Goodwillie deal dead now?

Mon Jul 25, 2011 7:12 am

I think that he's not going to be coming here now. With Gestade and Miller signed up, I think that's all our strikers bought and MM will now be looking at the midfield and defence. I don't think either Goodwillie or Bellamy will be coming now

Andy, I think we will struggle to get Bells as his wages are well over our Budget, but the Goodwillie deal could still happen :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Yeah, I think you're right about Bellamy, Annis. I don't think he was in MM's plans for the squad anyway and he hasn't ruled out signing him to keep the fans onside. That's not a criticism, though. I don't think the Goodwillie deal will happen because of the number of strikers we now have at the club

I'd disagree.

I've no doubts Parkin will be gone and Jarvis will either be loaned or exclusively with the u21 side.

As you say Annis Bellamy's wages are well over our budget, but won't that also be the case the season after this one as well and so on, will we ever be able to afford his wages if he's not subsidised as last season??

Yes I agree, No one knows what the future holds including Bells.

We need 4 strikers.

Mason doesn't count as he is one for the future and Fat Joe simply is not good enough.

You could also say Rudy is one for the future.

That just leaves two strikers on the books.

Goodwillie for 2 million is also a great bit of business.

I think we've got enough without Bellamy and Goodwillie but adding either of those two in this transfer window could see us in the mix for promotion.

John Parkin (Sold or loaned out)
Nat Jarvis (Loaned out)
Joe Mason (Squad player - back up option/One for the future)
Rudy Gestede (Squad Player - back up option/One for the future)

Kenny Miller (Starting XI)
Earnie (Starting XI)

Add Goodwillie or Bellamy to that and it looks strong up front.

I trust Malky to make sure we're fully armed.
