Did anyone else find it slightly out of sync with the stereotypical transfer approach adopted by the club when Malky uncovered in an interview they had enquired about Chambers, but had not got any further?
At that point there was very little media reference to our interest, if any. So it was not as if Malky had to uncover the info or respond to a weight of media intrusion.
Was this a clear attempt to unsettle the player, on the off chance he may fancy the move? Was it an attempt to furnish the agent with our interest, thus engaging him in the process so he could maybe start the ball rolling.
Whichever way you look at it, I think this was the first viewing in the public eye of Malky's more ruthless side. Whether it be on the pitch or of it it appears Malky has a pretty unrivalled determination to get what he wants, but will also use an element of subtlety, with an over arching thoughtful disposition.
The manner in which he has engaged the club, media & fans since his inception has been hugely impressive imo, and we can only assume this extends to his dealings in the transfer market also, as we have countless examples already of top quality Championship level free transfers etc.
By every week that passes you get a stronger impression that in Malky we have a gem
