i honestly thought things would change!!

with dave jones gone and malky coming in, a man who clearly shows passion and has got fresh idea etc. but judging by some of the responses on the messageboards i was clearly wrong! i honestly think that some of our fans are the worst in britain! we are cardiff city not man utd. last night was our first real friendly and we are almost 3 weeks away from our first game and yes i agree we need a few more signings to give us a bit of cutting edge but some of the posts i've been reading are unreal! i honestly think this could only happen at cardiff. a serious reality check check is needed at our club and i think malkys biggest task this season is keeping fans expectations in check

Top Post Mate. Could not agree more! :ayatollah:

I've said all along, 12th or above and I'll be happy. Anyone who is expecting the playoffs needs to get their head out of the clouds. I'm not saying it won't happen but after last season the game has shifted.

Here here mate. For some reason some of the posters on here must of missed the games in May and thought for some reason than we are a premier league side?? I just dont get it, we played in a friendly last night where the manager gets to look at the various players in a real game situation, thats all

We are a embyonic Championship squad that needs to grow and gel and just maybe we might turn out to be a force to be reakoned with. People are getting way ahead of themselves, as usual

Re: i honestly thought things would change!!

i think there is absolutely no doubt that malky is currently addressing what we need daily and his next few signings will be crucial. if u look at the players brought in so far they are definitely players we could have done with under jones. i think he's added solid players who can definitely give us the strength we've been lacking centrally throughout jones' reign. the problem for malky is that he has lost absolute quality upfront. as much as jay and chops carried baggage with them, nobody can doubt that they were a cut above at this level and malky faces a real problem in trying to replace them. then there's bellamy, how do we replace him if he doesnt come back. we've got no aaron ramsey's coming thru, so lets be patient and do our job and support our team

Well said. Its actually putting me off coming on here, its starting to become a joke, it was our second friendly. It wasn't about winning, it was a chance for malky to try out things and to see whats available to him. Be patient!

Standing in line for a beer last night at half time, and some of the comments being thrown around such as "disgraceful performance" "what the hell was that?!" etc coming from other people in the queue, I just wanted to scream at them "what do you expect?!?! Do you know anything about football?!?"

i spoke to malky on sat at seville airport told him pride and passion is enough ,much more than promotion.he was great ,spoke to him for about 10 mins.

im in total agreement with this. I could tell that people were going to be majorly disapointed, and start slagging players off, as some fans really believe we will be in the automatic places this season. To me that is completely deluded and if we finish above mid table we will have done well.

to be honest the first half wasnt too bad either! Celtic are a good, settled side, who are way ahead in their pre season preperations whilst this was only our second game and we are in the middle of a massive rebuilding job! I really dont know what people expect. Im really afraid that people really think we are going to be in the automatics this season and when this doenst happen they are going to turn on Malky and the players. I can see it coming already. Malky and the boys need time to bed in and it could take 2-3 years, just like it took Jones to get us into a play off chasing position!

I am sure that people enjoy being right about failing at this club. Dont agree with negative comments of any such untill the player/person/managet ect is no longer part of CCFC.

Good post mate, what is the point of going at it full blooded and risk injury a few weeks before the start of the season, that in my opinion is crazy.
Btw,my wife is related to David Goodwillie,a long long distant cousin tbh,and although he is a good player,he is trouble, that is fact.

If there is one thing we need to get away from is posts like this having ago at fans who express an opinion.

The opinions of some fans might be 'unreal' to you, but they are very real for those who expressed them. If a 'reality check' is needed then the end of the season will tell us.

Until then respect all opinions and if they are 'unreal' in your opinion then simply tell them why without the silly labelling.

No Conway or Earnie last night. One thing for certain if people reckon we are going to be a major success straight away is mad, but Malky will need time and we have to give him that. You can't go by friendlies they are nothing games, they are for fitness, tinkering ETC. That is why i don't go to Friendlies. The last Friendly i went to was against Celtic a couple of seasons ago and again that was shit awful. I will not be going to another they are pointless for the supporter and vastly over priced. To charge £15 is disgraceful a Fiver would be more like it.

tony i dont know whether ur post was a personal dig against me mate as i wrote this post with one intention and that was to pour water on what i see as peoples 'unrealistic' expectations! i fear we may have a tough season and if people are willing to be so negative after one friendly i dread to think what it will be like if we are not in the top 6 by xmas. i don't want another season of negativity as i really believe that we, as fans have a big part to play and if the club can go forwafd without being fragmented like it has in the last few seasons, i really believe success will come a lot sooner. we haven't got a budget like west ham or leicester so like dibs said, as long as we see passion and pride in the shirt i will go home satisfied every saturday :ayatollah:

Fine you are entitled to that opinion but it can be posted without the digs such as "the worst fans in Britain" or my personal dislike "negativity"

We need to get away from that and if some fans have unrealistic expectations then that's their opinion. If you disagree then tell them why without resorting to that kind of nonsense.

What it's your belief that Cardiff City supporters are the worst in Britain? :?

Re: i honestly thought things would change!!

at times i think we can be as quick to turn on our players as any other team in the country (to my knowledge) i think we're similar to west ham in that when things are going well we are great bad when not so well we're a nightmare.

Go and read other message boards and you will find we are no different to other clubs.

I remember once going on Leicester's board to congratulate their teams effort after they lost 4-2 at CCS in an FA Cup tie. It was full of threads about surrender monkies and gutless overpaid twats, even though I thought they were unlucky to lose.

Re: i honestly thought things would change!!

Thu Jul 21, 2011 3:30 pm

i think a lot of clubs think this about cardiff. ian harte alluded to it before the play off game and other players and managers said it last year also. i'm saying that it genuinely never used to be like this when we were shit. then i thought it may be cos we haven't got the most likeable and passionate manager (dave jones) but now he's gone and been replaced by malky, who seems to making a big effort to connect with the fans, i hoped he would be given a bit more slack, but on the evidence of last night maybe i was wrong

good post mate your exactly righr to many city fans are ready to slag off players management and board at every chance they get.they all wanted jones and his prima donnas out now thats happ-ened they expect a top three finnish without giving club chance to bed in .Of course we wont win every game as long as players show pride in the shirt and battle every game im happy :old: :old:

Re: i honestly thought things would change!!

Thu Jul 21, 2011 4:23 pm

Agree with you gringo!

Think a big problem at City is unrealistic expectations, and fans being quick to get on players' backs. It kills what is quite often already a poor atmosphere in the CCS.

I hope to God everyone gives Malky a PROPER chance to prove he's got the minerals - sit back and assess after a season (maybe even two) and if you still think someone deserves a slating then let rip.

Criticism at this time of the season just shows impatience and short sightedness.

Re: i honestly thought things would change!!

Thu Jul 21, 2011 6:37 pm

new season, new manager, practically new squad, new training techniques, new stadium.

this is the rebirth of cardiff city. things are gonna take time to start clicking. everyone who is slagging the team off already need to just relax and take a breath. we all want city to win. yes the match last night was not the best but what do you expect, our pre season started last night celtics was ending. however i was impressed whith whitts last night he seems to be getting stuck in more than he did a few sewson ago, gunnarson seems solid, not to sure on mason yet, even naylor wasnt to bad :) one thing that i wasnt happy with was the fitness of players mainly. i know its pre season but they could have been a bit fitter. :ayatollah:

couldn't agree more the minute the retained list was released i said top ten not matter the manager, the rebuilding task seems like it might be a two season thing to me anyway but i wouldnt go as far as saying we have the worst fans in britain, but thats your opinion. I just think we all need to get behind Malky and the team this season and give it a real go :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Re: i honestly thought things would change!!

Thu Jul 21, 2011 9:34 pm

These are the facts, and bollocks if you dont like them

The rest of the Championship, managers and players alike are seeing
the squad Malky is putting together and are very nervous. Right now!!
we can field:

Heaton GK
Taylor LB
McNaughton RB
Keinan CB
Gerrard CB
Conway Midfield
Gunnarsson Midfield
Cowie Midfield
Whittingham Midfield
Earnshaw Striker
Miller? Striker

Add a defender (he's already said he's after one), add another midfielder, add two more strikers
bear in mind he has bought bloody quality so far, and its unlikely he'll f**k up on the evidence so
far. Are there half a dozen teams in this division with a better bunch than above?? are there f**k!
Above is a cracking side.

Now bear in mind that all four of the big names no longer here had less
than outstanding seasons. Chopra was pretty poor, Bothroyd, great for 20 games. Bellamy, sadly
injured for much of the season, Burke.. for whatever reason, a shadow of his former self.
Between them all though, our strike force managed to get us lots of goals, lots of wins and in a
commanding position. IT WAS THE PLAYERS BEHIND THEM THAT CONTRIVED TO f**k IT UP!!!

Chopra has been replaced with someone who will get more goals. Bellamy may well still be coming
but if he doesnt, Conway will be out left winger, leaving another £2m in the kitty. Bothroyd at his
best will take some replacing, but would i sooner have a slightly less gifted player who will give us
a WHOLE seasons effort? Damn right i would.

Mid -Table??

Your all nuts... this squad, once its complete, once it finds its feet, is going to be amongst the top
two or three for most of the season.

They are all bloody class players.

They also have a manager who commands respect, and who will get the best from them.

But then again... we lost to Celtic in a friendly?

Idiots!!
