I've had enough

Mon Jul 18, 2011 1:17 am

I have had enough. Over the last year I created a number of accounts on CCMB to provoke a reaction from the members on the message board. There were personal things going on in my own life and it was my way of venting and letting things out, a release. I was often abused by members for my antics and persistent winding up and i'd always bite purely for the reason that I got so low I enjoyed it and reading people's responses were funny, at the time. I went through a phase of thinking I knew everything when in reality I only knew things I specialized in and not the whole picture. It took a long time to sort things out and eventually stop posting and I decided to stay away from the Internet altogether for a while until I sorted my problems out. Thankfully everything is okay now and I have been a member on here and focusing on my blog and starting uni in September. The fact is, every post I made on that board was made with provocative intentions and in a way I deserved all the abuse I've got for my posts. I'm not proud of what I did but you make mistakes as a young lad.

Now, on to my next point. Carl hasn't ever done anything wrong to warrant offensive personal remarks made against his family. Now whereas I can understand someone like me getting abuse, I simply cannot comprehend why fellow fans would want to abuse someone who puts so much effort into finding out information and feeding fans with the latest news on the club. Carl has accepted criticism and I have never heard of him retaliating to comments made and he's just gone about his business as usual in a respectable manner.

Why can't we all get along as fans? We are people first and foremost and should respect one another regardless of their views on something. If someone really has an argument they will debate and put across valid points to present a valid argument, not instantaneously dismiss the opinion and then resort to childish and offensive insults. We have fans turning on fans, fans turning on players, players showing a lack of respect to the fans and the club. It's a vicious circle. Let's realize we have a fresh start under Malky and let that transcend within the fan base as well.

Now, the three members in question are young lads. I've had run Ins with two of them and the other member Alex I always thought of as a respectable poster. In my opinion it's very likely their posts were made to provoke a reaction. I'm not saying this makes what they did okay because it doesn't but as someone who has posted to provoke a reaction before, I can understand it. Many people, especially young lads like myself don't take the Internet at all seriously, well I didn't until recently, and they probably don't realize the impact their posts have on other members or readers. This is why recently I have been passionately arguing against racist remarks made on the site and fair do's to Merlin he has removed all the posts I have reported.

It took me months to realize what an idiot I'd been and even though I was going through rough times in my own life, I was passing that on to others who thought I was serious.

On the whole I've enjoyed this forum as a lot of the posters engage in an intellectual discussion and that leads to a very interesting debate. Unfortunately, enough is enough now so I won't be posting again sorry as the sniping and civil fan rivalry, call it what you will, has gone way too far. I looked at the thread earlier in utter disbelief. Annis has come in for a lot of stick but he gives it back just as good and can hold his own. Carl takes it on the chin and moves on. However, bringing a young girl into this is just plain wrong and I really don't want to be reading posts/threads on any site where families are getting brought into the discussion.

I will be using the student forums from now on and hopefully one day once I've finished uni and settled down, so will have the two message boards. I will keep updating my blog for all those interested and I sincerely hope Carl has a blog with his latest information as I really don't want to visit the message boards anymore as all I see are snide remarks and insults aimed at each other and those close to them.

So thanks Annis, Carl and all the other good posters I've debated with over boxing and so on. All the best.

That is a cracking post mate and says it all. Please don't let a few mindless people get the better of you as we need your input on here going by the thread you just posted. Carl is a very nice guy and he's become a very good friend of mine and does not deserve to have his daughter brought up in petty little mindless peoples snide remarks, its all about jealousy because they don't like what Carl knows and have to make stupid meaningless comments about everything Carl says whether be right or wrong.
Reconsider staying on this forum as we need to keep the good posters on here.

I've got to be honest I hated your posts on the other board but it takes a big man to sincerely come clean and you genuinely sound like you have learned something out of all this .

Gone up in my estimation, all the best to you

Not one racist on this board as far as i can see. Some have different views.
Some believe ALL colours should be treated the same, or none treated with
kid gloves. Basically, whenever you have got into a DEBATE over things, you
have spat your dummy out and gone crying to a mod, sooner than fighting
for what you think you think is right

Why do individuals take Message Boards so seriously? Post and be dammed is the way I look at it.
