Aron Gunnarsson - fans favourite?

For some reason, ive got a feeling he's going to be a real fans favourite here, i can just picture him now in the matches showing 100% commitment, working his arse off all game, and still having that touch of quality on the ball

i dont necessarily mean he's going to be the most talented player who we look to who can provide that extra bit of quality we need to win a tight game, but just a fan's favourite in the same sense that i think Willie Boland was, a tryer

I must admit that i haven't seen too much of him, but its just a hunch i have

that said, i am disappointed to realise that his role in defensive midfield means that Olofinjana wont be returning, because although i know alot of people here dont want him back, i was a huge fan of his when he was played in his best position, being just in front of the back four like a wall as he was away against the Jacks, NOT in attacking midfield where DJ seemed to often play him, because i feel that he was wasted there, and is what coincided with his dip in form

Could be the kind of player we need !

As soon as we were linked with him my first thought was Defensive Midfielder!!

Its refreshing to know that he sees himself there too, as does the gaffer.

With him patrolling in front of the back four. We will be difficult to score
against with the defenders we already have, and Malky has made it clear
he is after ANOTHER defender.

Our midfield looks solid AND skilful, AND attack minded.

Cant f*cking wait to see the forwards when they arrive, and anyone with
any doubts as to the quality we can expect has had their head in the sand
for the last two weeks

It was a big shame in regards to Olifinjana, started off really well at Portsmouth and the beginning of the season, and then seemed to have run out of steam.

Azz I was there in pompey and thought drinkie next to him as best player on the park.
Shame keoghs header was disallowed that game. I think he may have had the confidence to score a few more if that 1 counted.

I totally agree with you mate, I personally would love to have Olofinjana back at the City. I cannot believe how some people can call him a bad player. He was quality at times last season and he scored about 5-6 goals from defensive midfield, yes his form dipped a lot in the last few months of the season but I honestly think that was because Jones started to play him further up the field, if Olofinjana had of stayed in his correct position just in front of the back four then I really do think we would not have conceded as many goals as we did towards the end of the season, and I think we would have made it into the automatic positions for promotion. Whatever happens, that has passed now and we look to the future and I really do think that with Malky in charge and with the new players and the more new players that will arrive soon, the future really is bright for us City fans.

I'd go as far to say that drinkwaters performance at Pompey was the best from any player of ours last season! He was sensational and actually looked a man utd player! Shame he got injured and jones messed him around! As for gudjonson I have a feeling after reading the Coventry board that he will start off really well but then drift away! From what I've seem of him though he looks a good player

gunnarsson is the player us cardiff faithful love, he gets stuck in and what we never really did in the DJ era was winning that important second ball, where-as last night, he won the majority of his personal battles

bit harsh on Oli, on his day is a brilliant holding player, only thing was, he could never pass!

based on last night he looked great and if he carries on like that the fans will love him. My only worry is that Coventry fans have said he started off great for them and then lost interest. Hope that doesnt happen here!
