from an interview, seems as if Malky wants him in that defensive midfield role
im happy with this, hes a good passer, good mover, comfortable on the ball and works hard
leaves us wondering where this puts whitts, cowie?

So same as Mcphail then?
This leaves Whitts in a wide position where we have got the best out of him. Wasnt as influential in the middle last year.

aron has a lot more energy than mcphail and can burst forward, has a decent shot aswell
i like mcpahil, dont get me wrong, but the amount of good positions he's been in to have a shot and he's bottled it is ridiculous.
i kind of agree with the whitts statement, however, i would like to see him just behind strikers, high up bursting into the box. he did this with maximum damage two seasons ago scoring for fun. not enough pace to play wide

football is a squad and rotation game. they cant all play at once but all will see a lot of game time with the current size of the squad, i doubt we will have a large squad next season

He played wide left two years ago when he got his goals, not just off the striker, and also made more assists from that position with his accuracey of crossing / passing.
The days of the wideman just being a pacey winger died with flared trousers.

Burke had pace. Very little end result however.

Cowie is a box to box midfielder so im thinking that Mackay will line up:
Conway Cowie Gunnarson Whittingham
Dont get me wrong, thats a very decent midfield but I do think it lacks a bit of pace and X Factor to be a promotion winning unit. Time will tell!
