I wouldnt read too much into the rankings though as England are ranked 4th after a terrible year for them..

Problem with not looking too much into FIFA rankings is that they are what has got us into the lowest pot possible. They are mockery, granted, but I can't see too much changing in the near future with the current ranking

It shouldnt matter whether the game is played home, away or at a neutral venue. Additionally it should not matter whether we have a full squad out or a team full of players who are returning to fitness. Such a game may be perfect for players who are not part of their own clubs 1st team and would be considered as "match practice".
This is something Switzerland and Jamaica did a few years back and resulted in them moving up the rankings. Switzerland, from memory, played about 25 games in a 2 year period!
The aim of this exercise is two-fold:
1) Play enough games to have a serious effect on the World Rankings
2) Give International Experience to those who are not normally 1st team players.
Once we are in "Pot 3" we can then have a good shout at qualification.

Both would probably give Wales a serious game if not beat us IMO.

Come on stop kidding yourself - we'd beat the Faroes for god's sake (we're not as bad as the rankings suggest - in fact we'd easily beat most of the sides who are immediately above us), and I don't care if Iraq won some stupid tournament years ago (a long time ago in football terms), they're still shite probably.

FAW - They don't have a clue, old fashioned and unwilling to modernise. They need to invest in grass roots more & develop a national academy or similar.
Gary Speed - Not good enough imo, we needed to appoint an experienced coach or an excellent tactitian / motivator and i'm afraid to say we got neither. The list was a short one but it would have been better to look abroad for a completely new approach.
Playing Style - We don't have one! The manager needs to develop the 'welsh way' and play to our strenghts i.e fill the midfield and KEEP THE BALL, we have some decent passers of the ball in Rambo, Ledley & Vaughan but can never get the ball to them from defence.
Players - Some lack the passion & dedication required and we have too many pulling out with 'injuries' only for them to play for their club the following week....you simply don't get this with the top nations
In short everything needs to change from top to bottom starting with sacking the FAW chiefs
