Jay Bothroyd - City Legend...

Wed Jul 13, 2011 6:23 pm

...then turned into a big time charlie on the pitch since January - and a tw*t off it after the season ended, as fully highlighted in his conduct on Twitter.

I for one aint sad to see him go as he embodied the 'final hurdle failure', which has proven to be the legacy from DJ's era.

I will watch MOTD this season with amusement, focusing on the 'R's fans' faces as they look on in bemusement whilst Jay is eating grass for the 20th time in the game :D

He was very good up until december, after that he was useless, as far as a city legend is concerned, never, he,s not been here long enough or done enough to deserve that title, clarke, tosh, dwyer and earnie yes bothroyd no!!

He did get a full England cap against a top football nation at Wembley whilst playing for us...and had a great rapport with the fans & club at that point - just throwing that out there :D :ayatollah:

Fair point, it was a great achievement for him and the club. But it was his attitude and work rate since that point that leaves the sour taste in many of our mouths. In my opinion, he let himself the fans down in the 2nd half of the season. Seeing a player with such ability not pulling his weight infuriated me.

though he was to good for us after his england cap, dont think his cap fitted his head anyway now hes ended up at qpr no one else wanted him he must be gutted
jay look in the mirror and be honest with yourself cardiff city and our fans made you, 2-3 thousand away fans chanting your name it must be a great feeling, but in the end it wasnt great for us watching you on your arse half the game dont think it worked out in the end like all the other clubs you have played for.city legend not for me

He never will be considered a city legend. He was decent enough for a spell but in the end showed he is nothing more than average. His conduct on and off the pitch left a lot to be desired and he has shown his true colours by turning out to be a right cock to us city fans since he left us.

I don't expect him to do well at QPR, and i gaurantee he will be back in the championship in a year with our without QPR. As far as i'm concerned we are well rid of him.

his goals got us to the brink of the premiership twice and i still maintain hes got way too much grief from our fans

I agree with that and he gave us pretty good value for £350K plus £8K a week, much better value than a number of others over recent years. It's funny but Burkey was poor for virtually all last season yet he gets very little stick despite being on slightly more money per week than Jay  .

Jay didn't perform for most of the last 3 months of the season (mainly after his injury in December) but over the 3 seasons he did and therefore I won't be slagging him off and I hope he gets what he wants at QPR.

On the back page of the Echo, it says he quit us for QPR, which isn't strictly true. he quit us, spent some time looking for another club then QPR came along. How many games he'll get for them remains to be seen though

No certainly not a City legend, but a class player nevertheless. If he'd have played the full 90 mins in the play off final we could've been watching Prem football last season, most of the good things that happened on the pitch usually happened when Bothroyd was playing, he was pivitol to the way we played.

I'm not gonna slag him off, he's gonna be playing Prem this season whilst we're watching Championship stuff, water off a ducks back. IMO he's been an asset for us whilst here and I wish him well at QPR.

he ll never go down as a city legend

I think it should be the other way around Cardiff City Legend because without us giving him a chance and all that first team football he would be jumping from team to team again.

Quality player when his head is right.

Good luck Horse Face! :ayatollah:

Looking forward to seeing how he will do in the premiership! From his attitude since january he obviously believes he should be there so lets see if he will be as good as he thinks he will be!!

Legend - No. He was one of the better players we had in the squad, up until he got his cap and injury in December.

But to come out with that comment, is just narrow mindedness in my opinion.
Can you tell us what comments he has put on there that has made him this tw*t?
I know with the amount of abuse he was getting on there from City fans, I wouldn't have been so polite.

Will always have time for Jay as he did a great job for City (for the most part) and got us up there and competing two seasons running. (Genuinely think if he'd have played 90mins in the play off final against Blackpool he'd have got us into the prem)
Had his flaws, and didn't cover himself in glory after getting his England cap but if you look at his career at City as a whole I think it's unfair to slate him after everything he achieved for us.
Best of luck to him at QPR

good luck in the premiership Jay :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
