ccfc assets

under dave jones managership at the end of last season we lost burke/bothroyd/and mathews , conservativly i put that at £5 million pounds becouse he allowed them to run there contracts down . now under malkey ,s managership in no less than 3 weeks ,we have signed 5 new players ,all for the pricly some of zilch zero £s, these 5 players i feel are probably worth at least 5 million in my estimation ,it beggars the question what was dj actually doing for his £800k ,it certainly wasnt looking after our financial interests ,(dont say it wasnt his responsability)as i believe the malaysians trusted and relied on him with his cv and alledged experience , secondly it wasnt much coaching , as he usually turned up later ,stood on the side watching saying nothing ,(usual pose hands folded)leaving it all to his no 2 , who he never listened to,, malkey and his coaches are there waiting for the players to arrive at the training pitches ,and he is totally in charge of every bit of trianing , long may it last ,in malkey we have a real good chance of success , and stability. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

MM might be a bit lucky with the 5 players to be fair....

I agree that their combined value might be somewhere around the £3mil - £5mil mark, but i don't remember this quality of player being available in previous years.

DJ did a good job with limited resources in the early years, dealing with one con man chairman after another. He took a few risks, few paid off. particularly last season with the high profile loans.

i think it was the right time to go, and thankfully we've got someone in with what seems to be good contacts and is well liked by players and staff.

5 good first teamers so far. a couple more, together with a couple of young talents to push for a place and we'll do okay.

Since the Bosman ruling players have no longer been assets, it's only the length of their contracts which hold any value.

Personally if a player comes here does the business over the period of their contract and wish to then move on at the end of it, I have no problem with that whatsoever.

The flip side is we can also take advantage of signing quality for nothing so its a swings and roundabouts situtation, which MM seems to have grasped but DJ was left floundering with the concept.

Swansea for one don't include player valuations as assets.

Way too variable - one injury, poor season can dramatically alter value. Which is of course meaningless, due to the whole supply/demand issue.

the way its going in the lower leagues transfer fees will soon be a thing of the passed ,unless selling obviously

Several players quoted DJ as being a reason why they signed. MM isn't unique in this.

Since Bosman the players are well aware of their contractual power. In every club some players will run down their contracts - this is why we have been able to pick up so many good players for free under both DJ and MM.

Yes DJ deserves some criticism about some contracts, but even if DJ was the greatest manager in the Championship some players would still not have signed a new contract.

DJ deserves a certain amount of criticism, but our criticism is much more powerful when it is reasoned and balanced instead of blaming DJ for "everything" even when events are beyond his control. I feel that DJ deserves criticism over his handling of Adam Matthews; but I suspect that while DJ was not perfect, whatever he tried with Jay Bothroyd would have been unsuccessful as he wanted to leave.
