...How could Swansea overtake us.
This isnt a 'Iv supported Cardiff for longer than you' post just wondering if other posters stories match mine.
Back in the late 80's early 90's there were probably about 12 lads who supported Cardiff in the whole school.
Me and my brother, his mate, a couple of other brothers and a few other lads.
Most of the lads supported Liverpool, Leeds or Man Utd.
Now, these same lads are all Cardiff fans these days, dont get me wrong, I think this is great, but what I am saying is that this has happened with our rise up the League. They were not interested when we were yo-yoing between Division 3-2 but every person in the Valleys now seems to be a Cardiff Fan. All this has happened in a 10 year period.
Now if for some reason we did not make the Premier League within the next 10 years and Swansea establish themselves like Fulham, Bolton or Stoke in the Premiership I dont think it is inconcievable to see the Rhondda/Rhymney Valley, Merthyr, Cynnon Valley and anywhere West of Bridgend turn to the White Side.
Honest unbiased opionions lads?

If Swansea's ground were bigger then they would attract all the ' loose ' supporters looking to take a game in on a Saturday afternoon, however, they are going sell out every game next season so I don't see a major impact tbh

Im a Valleys Lad mate.
There is a hardcore support that has grown but a lot of it has come with success, people have jumped on the bandwagon, as I said a good thing.
If the tide turns though, do you think Swansea could dominate the areas and gain the support of the youngsters.

I have two boys working for me in Pembrokeshire, one Man U and the other newcastle. They have real reason for this, but down here there is no real local club. Most have all of a sudden become life long jack fans. But my boys hate the way they have all jumped ship, and have both said they want to be at Cardiff as much ad possible this year... I'm rubbing off on them am can see a cpl of new fans for us! Call it plastic or whatever u like, I see it as the club spreading itself and a good thing!!!

Very true, if we were to slip outside of the Championship and the Jacks managed to expand the Liberty though I reckon we would be in trouble.
The fact that lads have jumped on the bandwagon with Cardiffs march up the Leagues tells me that they will jump back off again should we go down.

We may not even have to go down for Jack supporters to start popping up in what have always been City strongholds. If we remain in the Championship and the Jacks stay up for a few seasons they will no doubt expand the Liberty and make room for these extra supporters.

my first year in comp was the 81/82 the last time the great unwashed got to the top division and i can honestly say i was the only ccfc in my year the majority were jacks. but the older maesteg blues were allways there
a few more lads my age saw the light in the early 90's and they still go but we were lost generation
the jacks of 81/82 on the other hand are all of a sudden are born again gypo's after cheering on man united liverpool and chasing the egg for the last 30 years
