Tony Mowbray accepts Andrew Taylor could be lured by Cardiff City Football Club.
The 24-year-old defender is out of contract this summer, and Middlesbrough can only afford to offer him a lesser deal to remain at the Riverside Stadium.
New Cardiff manager Malky Mackay had Taylor on loan at Watford last season, and Mowbray admits the player could be persuaded to take the Bluebirds up on their interest.
"I'm sure there will have been conversations between Andrew and Cardiff,” he told the Evening Gazette. "I know Malky very well and I'm sure as soon as he got that job he was on the phone.
"The boy's got some decisions to make. But I think Cardiff are a different financial club to us, they could probably match if not better what we could offer financially.

who would of thought that when we played them in the fa cup. it just shows how much he have improved as a club without going up! it was only a couple of seasons ago they spent a stupid amount on alves.
i hope we sign him though he is a good player.

I had very similar thoughts, we are a bigger club than them now regardless of finance.
I've got time for Mowbray though.
