Or really lave us open to a tapping up charge. Pay the compo and no problem, this could lead to problems...

The club have spoken to MM representitives, then theres no charge, if watford can prove we spoke directly to him, then there is trouble

How would the 'tapping up' charge fair if it was Malky who contacted us about the vacancy?

If it does come to that, all Malky has to say is "The club failed to meet my estimations, and failed to allow me to speak to over clubs who could meet them. In that case, I decided it was time to move on and find a new club who I thought could fulfill my ambitions." :D

I thought when a manager resigns he has to wait a month though?? That's a month we don't have so in that case!

Unless we pay compo...

i would not at all be surprised if malky had handed in his resignation. yesterday bassini made it quite clear to the fans that if he were to leave it would be malkys decision not his. i think this goes down better with the fans.

although thats not to say i dont expect us to reject it, cannot see bassini allowing him to go for free.

Way of the world now innit PR

Charlie Adam
Torres
Carroll

All had to hand in transfer requests just so the club could muddy them on the way out.

yep certainly is. still he is right though, we dont really want to let him go and bassini needs to ensure the fans know that it was malkys decision not his. id imagine that by trying to resign he is able to leave after some compensation is paid.

not sure we really want this to turn into villa vs brum round 2 do we.

for what it is worth; ive just lost a lot of respect for malky if this is the case, i never thought he would try to jump ship like this. he may have wanted away but i had hoped that out of respect for the club that gave him a chance in both the prem and as a manager he would have remained silent and followed the boards lead. still thats football these days i suppose.

time to get mcinnes in! :)

TalkSport just get most of their info from journalists who work for the newspapers and try and add bits so it comes across as more legitimate.

No it won't....

It just means he is free to talk to us, although there will still be a need to pay 'appropriate' compensation (via his agreed Watford contract??) and the possiblity of a complaint to the Footbll League....

Not 100% sure but I have a feeling that Watford put Malky 'in a position' where he either committed or resigned. Tidies things up for them at that end because he won't be able to claim for anything from them even if he was entitled through his contract....

Smoke and mirrors but at least we'll now get our man and the club can start putting a squad of players together worthy of the badge!!

In all fairness to Mackay (or anyone else) if your employer tells you there's a pay rise 'in the offing'
or working conditions 'will change soon' or 'you'l get the company car any day now'... and you dont!
.... You might be tempted to start looking elsewhere

If (for instance) Cardiff have really told him there will be a £20m budget**, and that they want him
to work closely with the Academy to bring it up to Watford standards, AND that he can perhaps
earn a lot more.... then you really cant blame him for going!

** Quick point, to an outsider looking in, Cardiff City are a club in crisis
with spiralling debts. The reality is, these debts are all being sorted out, the Club is looking
healthier than it has for decades, we have close to 18,000 Season ticket holders, which proves
to the new owners that the fans are willing to play their part too. If indeed the new manager
is given a budget of 20m then we need to remember that the expensive loan signings like Koumas
Olifinjana, Naylor, Keogh, plus Chopra, Bothroyd, Boyd have all left meaning a massive chunk
has been taken off the wage bill. Managed correctly, a budget like that should mean we are up
there challenging big time. Jones' problem was, he did not trust his own judgement on players
so just seemed to sign someone up cos of their name. Koumas, who was an absolute waste of
a wage last season, is testament to Dave Jones' failings.

Hopefully, Mackay can spot a talent, and isnt afraid to back his own judgement if the lad is
either very young, or from a lower division

(if we get Mackay that is!!)

you will need to get a head of football in for that. malky never really signed anyone for watford. john stephenson did all the legwork and then got malky's permission at the end of the process.

haha your too late he was poached by brighton about two months ago, hence the reason we sold Buckley to them.
