" M MACKAY : This Summer; Expectations & Us the Fans "

Thu Jun 16, 2011 9:35 am

MM I believe, when it is announced, will be a great appointment and full credit to the board (without considering the way in which we got to this point) for securing his services.

There are obviously unanswered questions however, which accompany his undoubted managerial talents.

This summer will witness his response to one of those 'unanswered questions' when he addresses the rebuild job. MM has limited experience in this respect, and there is also a question mark hanging over the calibre of player he's able to attract as he has experienced limited backing from his employers thus far in his career.

I would suggest this summer could well be the most critical period in his tenure with the club, as I firmly believe that his managerial talents will shine through and we will be challenging for an automatic promotion place ONLY if he can attract a player base that is good enough to contest. The budget that the Malaysians are willing to offer will also be a pivotal factor in this respect, as we are still unsure of how big that will be considering Carl's updates and the fallout from the Shearer situation.

Expectation presents another unanswered scenario. Thus far in his career MM has yet to operate under anything like the pressure/ expectation he will be faced with at Cardiff. Will this impact his managerial style & philosophies? My guess would be no considering his cool head and calm nature, however time will only tell.

Lastly, his relationship with us the fans is another key factor for success imo at a club like ours. I think we may well have a leader we can be proud of and will mediate with the media in a manner that will promote togetherness and a 'one team' culture - this is an aspect that we've witnessed time and time again that is vital for success in this division...you have to be moving in unison - fans, manager, board, media alike.

One things for sure, the skills and abilities he offers are undoubted and his modern youthful approach to management, coupled with his discliplinarian focus, accompanied by the style of football he instills in his teams - I think we might be in for a great ride next season.

Lets hope hes appointed and let the good times begin! BLUEBIRDS!!! :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Lot of work to do in a short space of time now, but probably one things for sure he will be a more amiable person than his predecessor and will encourage the players to acknowledge the fans after the game regardless of win or lose. That alone will go a long way to endearing himself to us.

Personally - I would be happy with consolidation next season - but ultimately, expectations will come down to how much financial backing MM is given.

I genuinly feel relieved that Shearer has not been appointed.

I did warm to the Shearer idea at one point, but now Malky looks like hes on the verge of taking over I beleive this is the start of a very successful chapter in our history :ayatollah:

Really looking forward to this coming season. Like you say what he does now in rebuilding our team will shape how we go forward as a club. This club has needed a shake up for some time, everything was so predictable under DJ.

Interesting times! :ayatollah:

Great post there mate

Expectations have to be top or second so the autos then.

The club said in removing DJ we will bring someone in to take the club forward and not go backwards so the club has set its own standards.

The set up the stadium the training facilities are all premiership standards the club needs to be in the prem so in my view anybody that says mid table or 10 th or what ever is wrong if you spoke to Mr Tan he would say the autos so why shouldn't we ?

We all have an opinion and that is mine.

Positive post tho great. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Ive said this so many times but if the club sacked Jones to progress then 3rd place or above is only place we can accept

We will be saving on slaaries depends on who Prem clubs let us have on loan and bring in

Ernie to replace Chops , Belamy to resign - if not we willl be mid table

This will come out in the wash...

Shearer was told that Craig Bellamy was part of the future of this club if everything
could be sorted out. Shearer was left in no doubt who the 'big name' with the erm...
'people down here' was... so he backed away.

Bellamy is a MASSIVE part of the Malaysians plans, he's done a better job of selling
Cardiff City to them these last twelve months than anyone else at the club, so its
going to be vital he comes here.

earnie will, i believe, get a bagful of goals if he comes back. But there are other
damn good strikers out there who are younger... and cheaper. So we will see!!

That has got to be one of the best worded, positive and detailed posts I've seen on here for a long time. Very good JonScam, well done. I think realisticly MM, or anyone else for that matter will need 2 years to rebuild our team but personally I feel the playoffs would be a good target for us. I feel it will be an exciting season coming up and I'm looking forward to what players we sign. Bluebirds :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
