Back up the data you have, and do a complete system restore.
Happened to mine before, and it solved the problem.

the hard drive will need formatting, have you got the vista recovery disc?
and you`ll have to make sure they are the same type of hard drive as there are IDE and SATA versions

first post but i dont mind helping out a fellow bluebird copy and paste the link in your browser its a copy of windows seven ultimate 32bit(and its clean no dodgy stuff)--
http://thedigitalkeys.com/win7/XWindows ... e32bit.isomight take a while but be patient then grab this its a free program to burn it with--
http://www.softpedia.com/get/CD-DVD-Too ... Burn.shtmlburn the dvd at as slow a speed as possible to prevent errors and make sure u tick the verify disc option to test it.
then grab this its a loader that u will need when u have installed it works perfectly i been using it for months
http://www.multiupload.com/2VG8R4JBINinstall windows seven using the disc u burned then run the loader (just press "install") and u are done microsoft think u have a genuine windows and u can download any updates u might need.

Papa
HDs are different, just taken me half hour to get computer back on, this time using "Last known good start up" it seemed to work ok.
Murphyblue, Thanks for all the info, I honestly think its something to do with the HD so no point in downloading what you put up yet, i am looking into a new laptop at the moment. I cant keep on using this 1.
Thanks anyway

u could run a disk check open up start/my computer and right click on c:/ drive a window opens and click the tool tab click the top option "check now" u usually have to restart and it might take a while but be patient and let it finish.
once restarted go to start/accessories and u will see "command prompt" right click it and click "run as administrator" then type in sfc/scannow this will check system files that may have become corrupted.
if it still playing up i would suggest getting a new harddrive they are much cheaper than buying a new laptop.

Go to the manafactures website, put the laptop model number in the search on there and you should get all the spec of your laptop..
