Derek McIness for the City job.
I am still told that Di Matteo and Hughton are the favoured candidates and of each I would prefer Di Matteo but I have a gut feeling that McInnes is very much in the frame despite what I am being told by others.
Yesterday I posted a decision would not be made until certain candidates returned from holiday, McInnes is currently on holiday on Florida.
I received a text today from a member of the press who claims a manager will be announced as early as Sunday or Monday.

Someone posted today that Di Mtteo,Shearer and Zola were away in Barbados in some golf comp.

McInnes means nothing to me, could be shit, could be great. Owen Coyle had the same about of experience as him so who knows.
McKay for me tho.

Correct Jenks 40-1
Fri Jun 10, 2011 8:46 pm
Not too sure about him taking the Cardiff job I think its a BIG step up from the SPL to the championship and I think we need to employ a manager who has championship experience and who knows the players in this league with plenty of contacts I've got nothing against Mcginnes but I don't think he's got the right contacts for this league I'd rather Hughton, Mackay or Di Matteo in that order
Fri Jun 10, 2011 8:47 pm
a manager from the scottish league no thanks its shit lol even dave jones would be an amazing manager in that league

carl how certain is this member of the press that the club are going to name our new manager on the weekend hughton for me [ but hes not on hols ] mmm keep up the good work m8

I was told today that's its really close between Mackay and Hughton with Mackay currently the favoured option.
Fri Jun 10, 2011 8:59 pm
Malky is away and I know for sure that Di Matteo is in Barbados doing a pros tournament with Shearer and Zola so the holiday thing is very limited Carl. I'm not ruling anyone out but if it's not O'Neil, Hughton, Di Matteo or Hughes, I'll be disappointed

New manager to be at the press conference when the announcement is made??????

I stuck a quid on McInnes last week at 25/1 lol
He's done a good job at St Johnstone since taking over from Owen Coyle and we all seen what he went on to do.
Had a playing career that started with Greenock Morton and went onto Rangers, West Brom, Dundee United and St. Johnstone. Possibly missed one or two clubs out. He's been in charge at St. Jonstone for 3 and a half years taking over from Coyle and led Saints to the SPL then kept them there quite comfortably. They also won a cup in his first season.
He has a decent reputation and is linked with almost every vacancy in the English League that arises although until the last few days had very rarely been linked with City in the Scottish press. If we don't go for him, I expect to see him in the Championship in the next 18 months. Michael Duberry and Jody Morris were two of his bigger name signings. Bear in mind that he's built a decent side on a club that only has a hardcore support of around 2000
His sides tend to be good at the back - I think they broke some sort of defensive record this season, but they did struggle to score goals.
Not the name I expect or hoped for to be honest, but could be worse........
Fri Jun 10, 2011 9:43 pm
To be fair, he wouldn't have been on WBA and Watford's radars a couple of years ago, and now ours and Brentfords this year unless he was doing something right. The club obviously has links up north so they must recognise that he has some potential being only 39 years old which for a manager is quite young.
He wouldn't be my first choice, as I do think the Championship is a large step up in difficulty from the SPL, especially with teams like West Ham and Birmingham this season. But if he did get the post, they it would be a huge change from what we've had before, which can only be a good thing.
